Welcome.
Wrong. You must try to spend way less than that - 96 GBP per year is way too much for your specs for LowEndTalk.
I know you said "no more than", but it's still too much
HostUS? They probably allow that??? Get the $10/yr node, comes with 768MB RAM + 768MB swap, 20GB of storage though
Try AlphaRacks if you want, $1.50/month and decent uptime (not the best network though), their offer still works despite it being a 2015 New Year offer, more info here:
http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/67907/alpharacks-decent-products-and-services-for-a-low-price#latest
(note: I'm not sure if AlphaRacks allows torrenting. ask support! also, I've asked them if the plan is sustainable, they said it is as they own all their hardware.)
Good luck!
I have a link to an offer in my signature. It's this one.
It's a trusted provider and has 7 different locations available. One of them is in London, which I guess you would prefer.
These offers are only available in that thread and on my site, but you can contact @davidgestiondbi directly if you want to ask him anything. I cannot tell you about the torrents, sorry.
Times are changing but regardless your first box MUST by default be with one of the following providers
Ramnode, BuyVM, DO, LunaNode
You may wish to take a look at our latest, albeit a bit dusty, LET offer here : http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/65603/clouvider-special-uk-london-cloud-vps-from-4-50-and-dedicated-servers-from-just-19-99/p1
For general purpose, decent performance and all round stability, I'd highly recommend RamNode. However, If you're looking to exclusively use torrents, you'll probably want to settle for some provider which is NEITHER based out of the US, NOR offers US as a location.
For about 5EUR you can get a dedicated Kimsufi KS-1 with a 500GB HDD on a 100mbit un-metered connection that you can comfortably use as a seedbox.
https://www.ovh.co.uk/vps/vps-ssd.xml would be perfect except from the disk space. OVH don't really care about torrenting, I see alot of seedboxes using OVH.
DO especially, good customer support and nodes with crazy good performance.
Tell us what type you need so we can understand what you want better.
Hi @Ritual_Watermelon, take a look at http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/66365/quarterly-top-provider-winners/p1
that plan doesnt exist anymore, now are $12/yr
@UnitUnidentified
Which type listed meets the criteria specified in the question?
Must:
VPS
no more than £8/month
30gb+ Disk Space
Would Be Nice To Have:
Able to torrent (private trackers only)
1gb+ RAM
Since when did we start being helpful to newbies?
Don't be a cunt :P
Not yet anyways, his newbie shield hasn't expired yet.
$8 is enough for @dediserve VPS servers.
This kind of friendly behave must be abnormal... lol
Make sure that you take advice from someone who makes a profit on the VPS they are recommending. That is absolutely critical here.
Ouch
Hi @Ritual_Watermelon, and welcome.
Since you are buying your first VPS I feel its worth pointing out that while @cloudvider claims in his linked offer that no other VPS providers give you root access, it is in fact a standard thing - so please don't be mislead. All offers you've got so far would give you full root access.
Best of lucking finding a provider.
Saucer of milk for table 2!
@cociu
time4vps allows private torrents and those specs will cost you 3.3 Euro per month (see the calculator on their site).
I didn't see that. He claims in his offer that he gives root, but nowhere does he say no one else does. He's just taking something that's standard and pointing it out as a feature and while maybe it's not because it's standard everywhere, I don't think it's deceptive by any means.
@Ritual_Watermelon - my advice if you want to torrent is to use BuyVM.
He claims:
full root access to give you unparalleled control.
Un-paralleled means nobody else parallels this - ie nobody else offers root access. There are no degrees of parallel - it's absolute. Prefixing 'full' doesn't seem to add anything other than confusion.
Exactly right. Someone who knows how to run a business is going to be much less of a hassle than someone who deadpools in a few months.
+1 for Clouvider. Knows what he's doing.
If you're looking something in USA, Delimiter is the place. @MarkTurner (https://clients.delimitervps.com/cart.php)
Check their locations and you may find a deal for your budget.
If i were you... Two vps... One that allows torrent and other time4vps...and fisrt box with deluge client with sshfs to the other... I have been doing this for quite a time or you could do rsync between the both.... With that much money... You could get 1 tb time4vps and hostus vps... I think they allow torrent... Or virmach... ☺
time4vps allows torrents, right @time4vps ?
@deedbeaf...
But there is an IOPS limit... But i dont think the OP is going to reach it....
