    Update!:

New Benchmark of Contabo SSD XL (seperate thread to allow for easier finding): https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/122471/contabo-vps-ssd-xl-benchmarks

Contabo changed their "UNLIMITED TRAFFIC" policy. VPS with 100 Mbit/s are never throttled and 1 Gbit/s are throttled to 100 Mbit/s if they use more than 100 Mbit/s on avg more than 9 days in a row. This is about ~15 TB per 9 days. You will not so easily reach that limit.

@Ympker Hows the uptime on your VPS?

This one I bought today so no uptime to really schedule. You can check their status pages for previous shutdowns.

Looks pretty decent TBH ( for price ), if uptime is good, it would be a great purchase :), they only offer 95 % uptime guarantee tho :(, thats pretty scary

Yeah the pricing and quality (hw, specs, network) are quite tempting. The SLA on the other hand...

SLA level of 95 % uptime/availability gives the following periods of potential downtime/unavailability:

    Daily: 1h 12m 0.0s
    Weekly: 8h 24m 0.0s
    Monthly: 1d 12h 31m 27.3s
    Yearly: 18d 6h 17m 27.6s

However there are still many tasks/projects that should be totally fine with that SLA. Afterall it is unlikely that the specified downtime happens all at once.

  • Does anybody know if their anti-DDoS is any good?
    https://contabo.com/?show=ddos_protection

I'm using Contabo for a few months, and they are pretty cool imo. I'm just a bit worried about the anti-DDoS. They don't want to give any explaination of it, even when I call them.

Basically it's nullroute. And yeah you should be worried about ddos because they can cancel your contract, contabo telling the incoming ddos is impacting their network.

They told me that they aren't going to null route it. They have "protection".

Same when I phoned them. They said they no longer null route.

  • Does somebody knows something about the cpu usage? Don't want to burst it 24/7 but are bursts allowed ?

  • @Naxid said:

Contacted their support. You are allowed to fully use them and ofc also burst. If you are continuously running at 100% you may encounter performance issues as cores are still ( virtual)shared.

  • I am going to test/review soon a Contabo box similar to this one; I expect it to be similar to the one I reviewed from Netcup.

    Thanked by 1Shazan
  • @edfox thanks for the links, I am glad I will be using a Contabo box soon. Sorry for the off-topic, but those stats definitely makes me conclude that the SSD in my Netcup review is not a real one

Also if anybody wants me to take any tests i have an idling contabo VPS M box until 17 May or so

  • I had a VPS-M (4Gb RAM) at Contabo (February 2013 - August 2016). I'd say the service was quite good. I left that hosting since I just didn't need that exact VPS any more. But today, I think, I'd keep that VPS, given the same situation.

Apart from several short-term packet loss conditions, everything was quite smooth and nice. I used support by email - quite quick and useful.

Yes, I have the same experience so far. I asked to change the order after a few hours and it was smooth and friendly.

Did you make this one https://serverscope.io/trials/m0x0 ? Otherwise you could try updating it.
