  • I just wish they would hurry up, on another forums a guy cancelled 5 dedicated server orders with more people cancelling orders daily, they're loosing orders every time they delay it further, however they're stance on that is they'll probably make up for it once their cloud, VPS, etc services go online in that location

Even if people cancel their pre-orders, OVH will still get tons of customers there over time and shake up a part of the market while they have stock.

I Expect their VPS will be very popular due to not many services in Australia having a decent Anti-DDoS System

Yeah, their current KVM VPS with NVME SSDs and anti-ddos is amazing, especially for a starting price at $3 USD for 2gb of ram, which if they do the same in Australia that would surely be a first.

It will be a little while before they deploy that infrastructure over there, so in the meantime people like ExtraVM and c38.host will be able to offer similar KVM VPS services with the same anti-ddos so I'm pretty excited for that

Does the VPS-SSD plan use NVMe? I thought that was the more expensive Cloud VPS that uses a Ceph cluster for storage. VPS-SSD uses local SSD of what I thought was unspecified type. Also it starts at $3.50 USD though that's close enough to $3. I have one from Black Friday last year and it's great.

I doubt its going to be that cheap in australia.

  • There's no way it will be that cheap in Oz. Their local ISPs already charge an arm and a leg.

  • I've got a 3 euro per year NAT VPS in Oz with Oliver. That's all I need... :)

    Yeah I noticed that too

  • Can anyone with a SSD server at Warsaw post the output of the following benchmarks -

    https://k4y5.github.io/ServerBench/

Also, are Failover IPs available at the moment? Any update on DDoS protection?

Waiting for the ones in DE & US :)

Digital Realty operate their own facilities and offer colocation services from them.

They purchased some of the assets Equinix were forced to sell off in Europe after the Telecity acquisition.

Throw another shrimp on the barbie? Maaaate?

  • No update. Why does it take so long if they have everything in place? if they don't say anything it means the situation is worse than ever.

  • what are you expecting? Its still ovh after all :D

  • They seem to be having issues deploying their anti-ddos solution in their Singapore, Sydney and Warsaw locations. Oles posted pics of the WAW1 datacenter being fully setup, and said "Everything is done, now we just need to wait for our global anti-ddos to be ready" so it seems that is what has been slowing them down all this time.

They also apparently are having to redo the entire way they have it setup as currently they said they had issues scaling it to the new DCs

Can someone explain what this means for my dedicated server in WAW1? Am i supposed to have lower ping or higher speeds now?

Perhaps higher speeds, but basically means that there is a failover path if the first goes down.
