It just came back up. I opened a ticket and it's still going up and down.

You'll see cloudflare errors every so often.

    Oh no, there goes observium.

  • agoldenbergagoldenberg Member, Provider

@Lee yeah something is up. One of my servers just came back up. Maybe a DDoS?

  • My 2 dedis from wholesale are up (with ~20 minutes uptime), but two other that I have with nocix still down.

  • My server still down too with them.
    Sad.

i think the problem is from their DC.

@dadiharta well hopefully they solve it soon. I have some customers that'll be right pissed if this continues much longer...

It was a downtime of ~30 minutes. Give them a break!
I opened a ticket with Nocix and will wait for the answer (both servers from them and WSI are up now).

It's not the best idea to have clients with critical services that cannot handle an hour or two downtime, when we are tanking about the most cheap dedicated servers in the world! If it is so critical, buy some more valuable services, man!

@jvnadr I'm not saying anything is critical mate, but this is their second bout of downtime for both my servers in less than 30 days. If they're going to YoYo then I will pay more obviously. But they were solid for a long time before this.

  • My server is also still down. Just FYI. Waiting for them on a response.

@agoldenberg I think you can check dacentec if need good uptime.
I just experienced 1 times downtime for years when they had prblem with electricity for 7-8 hours.

With nocix/wholesaleinsternet, I often got downtime althought usually never more than 30 minutes. I could get 3 times downtime or more with nocix/wsi.
I think Nocix/wsi have same problem with dacentec, is Electricity.

Nocix/WSI never explain the problem but i am sure the problem is electricity, Because my server always reboot after got downtimes from NC/WSI.

The difference is, dacentec had 7 hours downtime for years, but Nocix/WSI had downtime usually between 5 - 60 minutes with downtime more than 3 times in a year.

Dacentec offer lower specification than Nocix/WSI in same price.

Yep. My WSI host was down for 2.5 hours. Magically came back up by itself. Classy.

For what it's worth, they told me, verbatim:

We are currently restoring services post a outage. Please do note we do not monitor individual
servers, you must let us be aware you are unable to access your server.

So, I guess it's up to us to ensure that they have power, too?

  • mikhomikho Member, Provider

I experienced 1h 16min of downtime according to my monitoring.
The reply to my ticket when asked about the reason was "power loss".

    is Yours preconfig server?
If you still find down. Try to reboot from their website.
I think, they just restored their power but didn't check server one by one.

  • Still down here. Have tried power cycle via their panel with nil joy. No response to ticket. Will play the waiting game.

    I got reply in minutes.

This is my opinion, i don't know with you. I wish best for you.

Well if you are using them for commercial gain put some redundancy in place and stop putting the foundation of your business on the cheapest possible framework.

    Simple common sense.

    I believe that's optional.

I mean if they're losing $50 in 8 hours they could certainly invest that $50 in some form of redundancy... No excuses really other than profit margins.

Must've been power issue again, members of WHT say all their servers rebooted. This seems to be a recurring issue with NOCIX and WSI? Would love to see their UPS and general power infrastructure.

I think NOCIX/WSI is more like: what is a UPS? we just use old af diesel generators

I noticed network/routing issues after the power loss.
Guess that is what happens when gear boots up in random order.
Hope it stays stable from now on.

Really bad if that was the case - to know their core routing equipment isn't on dual PSU's with diverse routing. I guess you get what you pay for though.

Their entire power setup might as well be a large set of daisy chained 9v batteries.

I got this answer to my ticket from them:

We had severe weather that came through and took out our power for a short period of time. All power has been restored at this time.

Now, for all of you that asking from Nocix-WSI to have redundancy with ups, new gen of generators and backups about a power loss to avoid an hour of downtime, are you asking this without price rising? Because if you want an E-5 for 25$ per month and a /29 or a c2q with 10TB of traffic and 4GB memory for 15$ AND a full redundant network/power, then, you are just nuts.
They sell dirty cheap servers. And when we say dirty cheap, the cheapest in the US, without even setup fees. How can they do it? By cutting costs from infrastructure, obviously.
If you don't like it or if you moaning because you...lost 50, 100, 200$ for some hours of downtime or you have clients you maybe lose them, then, go elsewhere and pay much more. If you want a working server for testing, non critical jobs or even production stuff having also your own live backups elsewhere in case of, then, nocix-WSI are for you!

  • Reply for ticket said server is responding to ping/traceroute now and closed. Still can't connect at my end. Was trialling a server to replace a delimiter one.

Can we drop this 'buy cheap, get what you pay for' circle jerk that pops up in every thread like this? It's starting to feel too much like WHT. No one here is expecting IBM uptime on a Sourceforge budget, but if they wanna have a moan then let them bloody well moan.

I would expect them to have backup on their core network, yeah.
