Looking for a Windows VPS
I know, windows.. but I will be using the 2003 edition and only need < 1 gb ram.
I've checked LEB, but most are out of stock and was wondering if anyone here can refer me to a cheap one. Budget is around 5-10$/month.
Why? Because I've tried wine and everything and some parts of the program just don't work, I've posted the error on the WineHQ forum, but the moderator hasn't "Approved" the thread yet. (Which I doubt they will be able to help anyway, the .exe calls a .DLL then errors; it's all f'd up).
I've been looking at Burst's 8$/month 512 in Dallas... but really was hoping for 4-5$ for 512. (I know, I'm picky, but it's just how I am) and I don't want to be running the OS on KVM/etc or whatever, or does it really matter?
Cheers
Edit: Forgot to add, I need some good upload speed, well not "Good at my price range, but you know; decent..."
Edit2: Looks like the budget will have to be raised...... gosh dam windows is expensive QQ.
Edit3: Only if this was still available, omg! ( http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=957760 )

They mailed members on Monday, saying that there's about 100 left out of 1000 they're throwing.
*Fair note that they may ask Photo ID or phone verification.
BuyVM

I have issues with this one (the DC). End of story.
Oops.

Yeah, sorry forgot to mention location. Central USA would be nice. (Dallas, Colorado, etc)
BuyVM does look promising, just not sure if KVM hinders any performance problems with windows 2003.
Do you need it for long? My server with QPS I could put you on for a bit.
RDP RAM is shared with other users so you can't get a dedicated resource.
if you can raise your budget, go with @prometeus.
you will get an enterprise level of service
Works fine w/o issue.
If you're wanting to keep under the $7/m mark, there's also sonicvps.
Francisco
ah i forgot. you can also go with sonicvps. they are great too. and also try buyvm. they have a nice support
We discontinued the SimpleRDP brand over a year ago and merged everything with URPad to better support our clients..
I unknowingly let the SimpleRDP domain lapse after it was merged with URPad last year.
Seems that Sonic VPS doesn't do Windows anymore? At least, their order page says as much.
I rarely use Windows for anything, but got a few specialized apps that requires it. So looking for a decent Windows box.
My experience with burst.net and nqhost has been disappointing. They both had sluggish performance and bad network.
I do not understand why you wont like it on KVM ?
It goes well with virtio, even tho I am a Xen fan, nothing to say about windows on KVM.
Browsing this from my windows VPS in my Proxmox server I colo with voxility.
Yeah unfortunately this is almost the 4th time hearing about how bad Burst is just from this thread and pm's alone. (I was really going to choose them) but not now! Hehe.
I thought that the performance of the windows 2003 would be hindered running in KVM, but I guess I was wrong, I guess I could just find a nice KVM as well.
Sorry for the confusion
There are virtio drivers for 2003 too, you may wish to put them in the ISO if you will make a custom one. I bypass that by mounting 2 ISOs since I control the node, but you will not have this ability if you will rent the space.
512MB Windows VPS of Burst.Net actually can be as low as $6.5.
However I recommend you find some cheaper KVM offer if you have your own licence.
Here my plan

Can anyone else confirm?
