kondemand?

I have a process called kondemand running on my server, when I'm looking at the top view there is a whole bunch of them kondemand/1 , kondemand/2 etc. Each one is using about 1-3% CPU, that I didn't notice being there a couple days ago. I read the process is used for power management and controls the CPU clock, but what would suddenly have it jump near the top... Of well top ? The server isnt under high load at all.

kondemand is a kernel thread that relates to the cpufreq. So it is designed to save power. It shouldn't be loading up the processor during busy times.
If you're running kondemand, you may want to verify your CPUS are running at full speed:
