Programmer looking for VM for testing
Greetings,
I'm a Python programmer looking for a VM for developing on.
- Fast connection
- Fast I/O
- Minimal distributions (arch linux preferred)
- No limit on running Python scripts (i.e not web hosting)
- At least 512 MB of RAM
- At least 10 GB of space
- Based near Portland, OR
Since my RAM/space requirements are relatively low I don't expect to be paying more than $5-10/month. If you have such a service please reply with details, thanks!

Vultr has a Seattle location, if you're feeling kind this is my affiliate link.
Some guys at bonevm.com gave me a VM for my speedtest project. It's been solid so far in terms of network & performance. They're the only Portland, OR host I'm familiar with.
That's a good budget. You could go with any provider of the top #10 providers
http://lowendbox.com/blog/top-provider-poll-2014-q2-the-results/
I use Ramnode and they're really good
Edit: they don't have Arch Linux though, so Vultr would be a good shout since they allow custom ISOs, or any other provider in the top 10 link above which allows it (you'll need to check or wait for someone here to confirm which do)
RamNode offers Arch Linux for KVM instances, you can install it from ISO: https://clientarea.ramnode.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=48
They fit your budget and requirements, RamNode is pretty solid.
You can also look at AWS, they have Portland, OR location.
This looks like a good deal. Thanks!
Lowendbox.com
Google Cloud is offering two months free.
you could look at a lot of hosts that would offer fairly cheap yearly plans for that
You may wish to look at us as we have a Seattle location and Raid 10 SSD.

Hi,
You have a decent budget for the config you require.

@The_creator How is a server in Kansas City == Portland, OR??? Please at least read the thread before you start spamming your services. At least act like you have some common courtesy and decency.
Cheers!
@TheLinuxBug agreed my bad. Overlooked that Portland part :P fixed.

I cannot recommend Ramnode enough here . . .
Doesn'securedragon have that location? They are great!
+1 securedragon
One of the few providers that I've stayed with for a long time.
Still a customer and will be a customer for many more years.
Hello,
A new offer has come up this week, it is in Europe.
You can have a vps for 5 euros (6.25 $) named PICO.
You have 512 ram 50go hd and 0.5 vcpu
http://express.ikoula.com/cloud-public
I didn't test the PICO VM , but I think for the request better is to choose the Micro VM at 8$ with more RAM here in the english page http://express.ikoula.com/en/public-cloud
