looking for simple stock software for our warehouse
we started with some online businesses and keep growing and growing, and i am looking for some open source software to keep track of goods coming in and going out of our warehouse, if possible running on a lowend vps.
Does anyone have a suggestion for some opensource software, that works with simple handheld barcode scanners.
I know this is not the best place to ask, but i know there are a lot of users here with a lot of knowledge, so maybe aomeone has a good suggestion

If you have a look on codecanyon there is an inventory management script. Can't remember what it's called
@jcaleb - weren't you writing something like this at one point?
Odoo (formerly OpenERP) springs to mind, as it is a full warehouse management system (as well as accounting, invoicing, ERP etc).
It runs fine on a VPS - I've been using a Digitial Ocean droplet (512MB) for testing- but does require a bit of technical knowledge and a lot of process understanding to really use. There are connectors to integrate it to ecommerce websites. I would only recommend if you really want the best (and have the time to support it!).
i have seen that, but its too complex for what we need.
We just need warehouse inventory management, with barcode readers. Accounting, invoicing etc is done elsewhere
If it is just inventory managment you can always use Microsoft Access
no experience with access Can that also run on a vps?
That would require a M$ license and a windows vps (KVM/XEN) to do so. Would likely cost you more. That is also just managing a DB directly, and not really a "management" portal for easy point/click control.
I use this at work and its a nightmare...
Just get someone to write you something web based and get a usb bar code scanner. Writing something web based that is simple wouldn't cost you much at all actually, I reckon someone on LET could do it pretty cheap.

That's like saying "I use MySQL at work and it's a nightmare" or "I use Excel at work and it's a nightmore". It's just a platform - what you do with it and how well it works depends on how Access-savvy you are.
Access is a desktop app. It's not something you run on a server. In that role, it is excellent. If you have a database that only needs one user (or one user at a time) Access is fine - tons and tons and tons of businesses use Access to manage pieces of their business.
But yes, you do need to know how to use it and maybe read a book...

I can't remember. Maybe I have plans of writing such but buried by other things
