2GB+ for Minecraft
I need a VPS with the following specs, within LEB ($7/month) pricing:
2GB or more RAM
NO XEON E5 - NEED HIGH CLOCK SPEED
Preferably KVM
Preferably 1Gb/s port
High I/O speed
At least 1TB B/W
As near as possible to Seattle or Chicago. Anywhere directly between them is okay too.
Please, no "This is impossible, you're stupid" responses.
Comments
This is impossible, you're an angel
This is stupid, you're impossible
edit: sorry I just couldn't resist...
I've seen many plans like this. KVM is PREFERABLE, OpenVZ is OK, but not preffered.
With OVZ, everything is possible!
Please stop it.
Why not buy a minecraft host, they're like 1GB/$3.
With OVZ, hosts sell 196GB ram on a 32GB ram node
You can run anything except Warez, Torrents, TOR and Game Servers.
Your message on order page, apperently you do not know that Minecraft IS a game server.
@lukasubo man, http://www.kvmshell.com offers the cheapest SSD cached KVM VPS servers that actually perform really well and even they can't meet your ridiculous pricing. They will let you run Minecraft though...

no XEON E5? then what?
He said no XEON E5's
Waveride?
there is no bigger processor, E5 is the last and i7
http://cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
maybe he is wrong.
Not all E5s are low clocked...
Think of E5-1650, E5-1650 v2, E5-2690 (on the edge), E5-2687W, E5-2643
Shameless self-advertisement (your brother being puppet CEO doesn't change that)
Thanks for the recommendation.

I would actually say OpenVZ is better for MC. You don't lose nearly as much performance as you do with a full VT such as KVM.
This is unless, it is oversold. I can offer you a not oversold 2GB OpenVZ plan on E3-12XX processors for $7/m.
Where may I get this?
I am sure A LOT of people (including myself) with strongly disagree with this.
Performance will be better on OpenVZ undeniably. And AS I said unless it is oversold (As it is 90% of the time)
Sounds like a serious case of envy. It's a family business, no one's hiding that, though I would refrain from name calling since you are hiding behind an anonymous nickname. You're also relatively new to this place, so you should read more and type less until you become more familiar with this place.
Both of you can go bicker in the Cest Pit.
An anonymous nickname, indeed, if that's what you want to call it. That "anonymous nickname" also doesn't indicate I have been around here as long as you have.
Oh hell I'm not bickering. Probably this entire thread belongs in the Chest Pit. Very entertaining though.... very....
I like your blog, I'm going to read a bit more of it
Thanks, planning to write a few more posts soon.
Not sure if i'm late to the party or not.. But, you can probably ask @HardCloud. They have pretty cheap KVMs and allow Minecraft.
I will be launching these services tomorrow. Will update this post with order link.
Benchmarks?
@joepie91 - long time no seen - how have you been?
There is the E7 :-)
Whoa, where did that come from?
Self-advertising is allowed, by the way.
He's been around quite a while under his old nickname. I know who he is. Ironically, he started with a new nickname because his old one was tainted with stupid, brainless comments that didn't look nice on him. I'm just glad that isn't the case with his current account.
@lukasubo: I'd go with Jack's offer if I were you but ask him first whether he allows MC. I think it's the best offer you're going to get.
