Actually “2 x 256GB” means two servers with 256GB each.

You’re just entering the rabbit hole.

back then we had hostdoc selling 9 vcores on a 8 thread CPU.

this has clearly been outdone by a mile

TBH this whole thing reeks of a "stealth" hostdoc comeback. Misconfiguration of virtualizor and deceptive resources..

Are you sure he doesn't mean he has 2x 256GB RAM sticks?

I hope not since then he's losing out on dual/quad channel.

Damn my head is blowing, i heard stories about server provider put on even XBOX and change it kernel setting to identify it self as Xeon something, it's not necessarily to be XBOX but raspberry PI ancient Opteron server could do the job perfectly fine.

Actually, you're just making stuff up :)

He has 1 server, with 2x256GB sticks and the remaining 512GB is made up of drive SWAP. This has been confirmed numerous times over across numerous Discords.

He runs everything on one node, it's why panel takes 10 minutes to load. I think he only has one server.

My apologies, everyone was under the impression it was 1 server as you can see by Fro's response. This however doesn't make the situation better, he has more SWAP memory than he does actual memory, in both nodes? I am happy for your comment as it's just making this whole thing worse.

No worries. :) He has always had a second server but I believe it is for his personal use.

He has 384GB RAM in the boomer.host server now, since he had a 128GB upgrade some time ago. But, yes, more SWAP than RAM.

  • I don't know how you guys are surprised, this is all screaming "amateur hour" from the start. It's not priced to make all the hassles worth it for him. He'll get frustrated spending so much time and money and not make any and then deadpool. Sorry, but theres lots of red flags.

I bought a package from him and had the same issue as everyone else. The IO was extremely slow (which should be expected at this price point) and I thought it might've been a temporary issue casued by others setting up their box. I'm not using this service anymore because there appears to be either a gross lack of incompetence or dishonesty. I'll stick with my comparable NAT box.

    @Privacy don't use ubuntu then

If you read my comment you will see why

well guys I found the problem.

    virtualizor template: 6.8 MB/s
    virtuozzo ez template: 116 MB/s

Basically their shitty ubuntu 20.04 template made IO bad

A new template will be made so you can reinstall if you feel like it.

centos 7 template etc is uneffected. I believe debian 10 template is fine too. Plus if you decide to install debian 10 you can upgrade to debian 11

Don't offer Ubuntu if it's going to jeopardize performance. I'm going to idle the box I have with you. I wish you luck moving forward.

It's not my intention to defend anyone, but, he's not making profit at $4.95/yr offering these specs.

He probably makes some profit, he has over 700 VPS on that node and is of course overselling brutally.

only 45% of ram, 20-50% of cpu is in use.

Yes and 50% Swap Usage out of 500GB and a load average of 60
    System Load: 56.86 /vz Usage: 71% of 3.4T Swap Usage: 53%

    50% out of 500GB right..

What kind of drive supports 250GB swap?

As SWAP has been 1GB for a while*, 50% is only around 350MB not 250GB though.🙃

I'm really shocked by your lack of general knowledge for a provider.

The truth is that any kind of drive with a formatted capacity above 250GB can hold a 250GB swap file or partition.
