www.shopify.com is the best, but it's a service, not a script.
Shopify certainly isn't the best. And yes I tested them for over a year. I'd advise to just use OpenCart.
If for some reason you'll go with Shopify anyway, you can always contact them and knock something of the price.
You might want to have a look at Axis.
It depends on how much work you are willing to put into it, you honestly could have someone code a simple and cohesive billing system specifically for what you are trying to do. You could also use something like open cart and augment it with what you need to get the job done. Or the simplest solution would be using something like Shopify or Ecwid.
What's turning you off from those scripts? The looks? Admin interface? Lack of features? Security?
What exactly are you looking for in a "good" e-commerce script?
i just have used opencart. i think it's comfort for me...
