Please be aware the NVMe is shared CEPH storage connected over infiniband network to the node. Plus it's triple replicated. You can't compare it to a local NVMe drive which is obv. a lot faster. But with local NVMe you have no HA.

    Thanks for the advice.

I must admit that I have only started learning vps a few months ago so there are still many things I don't know.

I got a small vps from another provider and ran the same test - the result was:

fio Disk Speed Tests (Mixed R/W 50/50):
Block Size 4k (IOPS) 64k (IOPS)
    Read 203.91 MB/s (50.9k) 2.06 GB/s (32.3k)
    Write 204.45 MB/s (51.1k) 2.07 GB/s (32.4k)
    Total 408.36 MB/s (102.0k) 4.14 GB/s (64.8k)
Block Size 512k (IOPS) 1m (IOPS)
    ------ --- ---- ---- ----
    Read 3.89 GB/s (7.6k) 3.88 GB/s (3.7k)
    Write 4.09 GB/s (8.0k) 4.13 GB/s (4.0k)
    Total 7.98 GB/s (15.6k) 8.01 GB/s (7.8k)

Anyway, I am very happy to have this one in my collection box. I enjoy collecting boxes from different countries. Now my pain point is my HetrixTools is running out of monitors... I may have to let some go :'(

Once again, thanks @marvel for the offer. Wish you a very successful new year!

  • Sorry ppl I had to put the 512 OOS for now, I get tons of frauds trying to order it. The others are still available. The 512 will be back later.

  • @marvel said: I get tons of frauds trying to order it

Why can't we have nice things in life. Sigh.

Reading isn't a strong point here and I'm sure many would have missed or otherwise glossed over the note:

Every order will go through Maxmind fraudcheck. Please use real info and don't order through a VPN. This will require manual verification and will delay your order.

Thank you though for the nice offer from a relatively rare and out of the way location.

Yeah that's most def. a local NVMe drive. There are up -and downsides to local and shared storage. I personally prefer shared which is not very common for VPS providers. It enables live migration and HA so I can update the node without giving you downtime.

Plus when a local drive fails the server needs to reboot to switch to the RAID1 drive, then it has to go down again for the host to replace the faulty drive and rebuilt the RAID.

Anyway all the best to you as well for this year and many years to come

Woah @Nekki showed up, @cociu created some drunk offers because of that (I hope he does not regret them now :D), @gleert throwed some decent (but not deadpool, cmon!) offers.

Oh and @terrahost with his 'usual' (LOL!) shenanigans, but those are too fast for me so I don't even try :D

and a little drama from @cubedata. Perfect thread!

This thread was more banging than BF thread tbh :D
