my webhosting provider should support at least this php version
Some software that I have installed on my webhosting was updated few weeks ago and the minimal version of PHP that it requires is 7.4, whereas my hosting provider supports only up to 7.3. This is not a question which new provider should I choose, but rather which version should your web host support:

If your host only supports software beyond EOL, you should reconsider. If they don't support up-to-date software, they might have other issues too.
5.x or nothing!
7.3 is not EOL yet:

I have Debian 10 and use the default 7.3
I've been running PHP 6 in production since 2008 or so.
It performs pretty well and has all the features I need. However, it's increasingly differently to find a shared hosting service that supports PHP 6. Maybe I should rewrite my apps in Python 2.9 instead.
