what's the Guaranteed port speed? 2mps?
yeah would like to know the guaranteed port speed at least
Haha, no, not 2mbps. Most of the time you'll be to push 100mbps no problem. However, these accounts do not have a "guaranteed" port speed because these plans use a shared port. Let me explain a little how dedicated ports work.
In most cases, a host can only offer "guaranteed" port speed if they give you a dedicated line (i.e., your own Ethernet cable to the switch). However, a dedicated line would almost certainly push the cost of a VM outside the "low-end" price range. If you bought a dedicated server from us, then you would have your own private line to our switch and we could guarantee that you would always have 100mbps available.
With our plans, you're hosted on a server with other VMs. Our host nodes sit on 1Gbps ports, but the maximum port speed we allocate to any single VM is 100mbps. This reasonably assures that you'll be able to achieve 100mbps speeds whenever you want. However, if several VMs simultaneously pushed 100mbps, then it's possible that for a short while 100mbps would not be available. In reality, we seldom see this happen. 95 percentile bandwidth utilization on our 1Gbps host nodes' uplinks usually sits around 20-30mbps, so there's plenty of bandwidth available.
I hope that answers your question!
would look like to get a trial one
or at least the speedtest maybe
sorry just newbie that seek a cheap server to "experiment"
Sure thing, feel free to test out your download speeds with this file: http://www.reprisehosting.com/100mbtest.bin
When I download the test file from my home computer, I max out the download speed of my 20mbps Comcast internet: http://s22.postimg.org/637nic1f5/speed_test.png
