Which providers offer the chepeast high storage KVM VPS but hosted in the Cloud?
As it says on the tin!
Thanks,

What do you mean by cloud?
In short, Cloud VPS with high storage like 4TB/8TB... doesn't matter if HDD, but something faster would be a bonus.
Hetzner offer 2TB for 81.98 EUR or 5TB for 204.80 EUR. Anything better than that?
I dont really know the difference between normal VPS and cloud VPS except the latter support hourly billing.
If that the case then you will not get any cheap pricing as standard storage vps.
I mean Cloud VPS as in the storage is replicated to multiple servers for better redundancy.

you may ask @seriesn for details
8.33 USD / month ; Ryzen Storage , 1GB RAM, 2TB, 4 CPU
Hetzner is good and their pricing is fair.. pick that..
NetCup has 2TB SSD starting from just under 50 dollars.
Can Letbox's block storage fit your needs?
Prefer UK/EU.
@swat4 thanks for the mention. But we aren't the right one.
@HostXNow if it is mostly for cold storage, Amazon Glacier. Do note, outgoing is pretty expensive. But perfect for ones disaster recovery solution and long term safe storage
TransIP (Netherlands) up to 40TB

You can also duplicate it to another data center.
Yeah, found that one some years ago, but sometimes the disk IO speeds were terrible, though they said they were not throttled. Maybe it was just a temporary issue at the time and could try them again.
I see there is also https://www.tilaa.com/en/virtual-private-server who offer big storage, too.
Get a Slice + Slab!
Francisco
Is that true of slabs? (I really don't know hence the Q)
Ah, missed that one. No, slabs are single homed but there's RAID10 and all that fun stuff.
Francisco
I will check out tilaa.
You can also checkout intovps (Cluj) storage volumes.

Also check Kamatera express they have London, Amsterdam and Frankfurt

Good to see IntoVPS offer that now. I used them for regular VPS several years ago and the uptime was very good if I remember right.
Also, it would be good if there was decent DDoS protection included because if running a big backup type service it's important that DDoS is not able to affect the service. I'm not sure what the DDoS protection is like at IntoVPS. It doesn't look like they mention anything about DDoS.
Btw my idea was to offer a reliable and more affordable way to backup to Acronis and JetBackup. Current solutions are not backed up to the Cloud, don't include interactive-login for to be able to easily use SSH/rsync or they're too expensive
If someone already has the infrastructure for that and wants to offer the service let me know and I may use that instead.
PS IntoVPS and others have a bandwidth limit. It would be better if bandwidth is unlimited. Fewer things to worry about.
To have truly cloud backup, you need to have multiple servers with very fast network in different part of the world so every customer it will access their back at their local DC. I don’t think it will be cheap.
Even a few servers within the same datacentre in Europe would do. Start with Europe and maybe add other locations later on i.e you could use Hetzner Cloud to use Germany and Helsinki locations and use private networking. The storage duplicated to two locations is better than just one location.
I know it wouldn't be cheap, but got some PMs and know some are looking into this, too.
It's about time all providers can get inexpensive, fast and reliable storage VPS/accounts to backup data to Acronis/JetBackup easily.
Just curious, what product/license from Acronis are you using? I've seen it mentioned a few times for Linux servers, but didn't see anything on their site that wasn't very expensive.
I'm using R1Sfot now, but that is starting to look more and more like a sinking ship.
We have Tier1 from Acronis and so can offer a better price for Acronis Backup Cloud (Agent + Storage) and Acronis Backup License (for those who already have their own storage, i.e. Hetzner dedicated server).
You can check our offerings at https://clients.hostxnow.com/cart.php?gid=52
But the thing is, the pricing is a bit on the pricy side for some customers to store their data in the Cloud to Acronis datacentre.
I thought about offering Managed Acronis Backup using Hetzner dedicated servers, but it would not be duplicate to multiple servers. It is possible to set up a cluster of dedicated servers to have mini Cloud, but that could be more hassle than it's worth, and if going to offer decent service best to upload data directly to infrastructure/service that already replicates data on several storages, i.e. could do this on OVH public cloud. Still, it would be too expensive, and likely cost more or around the same for storage that Acronis charge.
Then for JetBackup, sure it's easy enough to set up a VPS, even in a Cloud to back up small amounts of data. Still, it can be a hassle maintaining it when most just want a storage account with Jailed SSH access and rsync so they can use JetBackup to backup directly to an easy to use managed storage account. There is no service for this atm. Suprised one hasn't created one already, not a Cloud one anyway.
If it's mostly for Acronis/Jetbackup you're going to find most situations where it's truly replicated storage is going to be more expensive than just deploying Acronis cyber infrastructure yourself. The Acronis cyber infrastructure backend traffic requirements aren't that high. I've heard of deployments running on just 1G granted but ideally you'd run 2x10G bond's for everything. You could do pure replica based or some form of encoding ( https://dl.acronis.com/u/storage2/html/AcronisStorage_2_installation_guide_en-US/planning-acronis-storage-infrastructure/understanding-data-redundancy.html ).
Ideally you'd deploy your own equipment but you mentioned OVH so just as an example
Five Systems:
INFRA-1
Intel Xeon-E 2274G - 4c/8t - 4 GHz/4.9 GHz
32GB DDR4 ECC 2666MHz
2× 960GB SSD NVMe + 2× 6TB HDD SATA Soft RAID
$111.99/month
Total Price: $559.95/month
You would do Encoding 3+2 and this would give you a total space of ~36TB. This scenario has a dedicated drive for the OS. The other NVMe on each system will act as caching + MDS. This isn't even the most ideal or efficient system. Using OVH block storage pricing this same amount of space would cost you $2211.84/month
And that's why I didn't bother trying to use the Acronis cyber infrastructure with that pricing and instead stuck with using Acronis Backup Cloud from Acronis and let them handle all of that.
So probably not worth it for Acronis unless will spend a good amount every month.
Easier to offer managed JetBackup storage. But again, for Cloud, the storage is too expensive for many, throttled disk io/network speeds or too restrictive SSH/rsync wise.
I don't deal with Acronis storage pricing so I'm not sure what you could negotiate the pricing as. The retail pricing ( https://www.acronis.com/en-us/cloud/storage/purchasing/ ) though is significantly more expensive than that proposed setup. You could also reduce the space on that cluster and just use three systems or even two if you just opt for 2x replica initially. Under a 2x replica scenario you'd have 12TB of usable space and could sustain a single node failure.
You don't require a lot of knowledge to actually run their storage platform yourself. It's actually just Virtuozzo storage.
Does anyone know who offers the cheapest 10Gbps VPS using Ceph storage or similar? Who offers the most competitive pricing?
If I understand you correctly, then I believe you won't find what you're looking for at a price you'll be able to accept (and make money from). Almost everything I've seen that offers replicated storage is vastly more expensive than "non-cloud" or single-homed solutions.
You may just have to do it yourself by renting some dedicated storage servers and making your own storage replication solution using Ceph or Gluster. I know it defeats the purpose of having somebody else handle these details for you, but it would be much cheaper.
Not anybody after the ZXHost fiasco.
