What major projects would you like us to mirror?
Hey All!
As we grow we also want to give back to the Internet community. We are a longstanding mirror of CentOS in London since 2014 but as we grew our international locations we have decided to put up some cool storage servers to turn up more mirrors, globally.
Specs of the mirror box in each location are:
6 Core Intel Xeon E
16 GB DDR4 ECC
18 TB Enterprise HDD
1.92 TB Enterprise NVMe
10Gbps uplink
We are going to accelerate the HDD by caching on the NVMe with Open CAS.
Servers are going to go up in London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles and we plan to roll out a new server in every location we go to.
So here is the question to the community - what would you like us to mirror?
Comments
First off: Congrats!
Second: Is it 1x18TB or multiple? You can look at my companies mirror (https://mirror.wtnet.de) where i'm the one running this on a dedicated 10G in Hamburg/Germany, located in AS15943.
Mariadb for starters.
Ubuntu archive is already pretty London-heavy from what I can see from traceroutes.
Debian could use the contribution.
P. S This is very cool of you
The problem is most big projects have enough mirrors these days...
Arch could probably make use of more mirrors:

https://archlinuxarm.org/about/mirrors
Don’t forget to mirror DirectAdmin (files.directadmin.com) - might possibly speed up the building
If @DA_Mark lets you...
p*rnhub ofc
Best OS of the world. Thank you.
Dont get this started here please. Debian is ofcourse ;-)
A few HEVC rips
files2.directadmin.com has been on Clouvider for about a year now
We need to hook you up with more @DA_Mark
Debian.
TPB mirror.
Seed some Linux ISO's
Another vouch for Arch
...and perhaps Manjaro too!
Or help seed some legit torrents? e.g. various linux distros, SXSW music, libreoffice and the such...
Some projects who probably need this: Alpine Linux, OpenWrt.
Why not windows ISOs? Great way to get a DMCA notice very quickly!
On a more serious note, look into mirroring ARM based linux distros. Those don't have many mirrors as of now...
Maybe it's openwrt or composer?
+1 for OpenWRT. Also maybe Alpine Linux?
+1 for Arch Linux mirror
Make a stupid huge plex server with all the -legal- content you can find and share it with us
docker hub, they are useless since their ratelimit for everybody with a carrier grade natted internet access.

I know the following won't be considered, but maybe someone else might think about it:

As far as Linux distributions go, alternative architectures need the most help
I usually seed the ARM, s390, and other architectures for the bigger distributions. Those always have a ratio an order of magnitude higher than x86_64
Off subject. How has your experience with opencas as a cache?
I’ve used bcache and it works but I switched to zfs with native caching abilities.
Curious to get your take on opencas since it’s the first time I’ve heard of it.
This project is a good idea to see how it behaves in production. We had good results running it in a specific environment when ZFS wasn’t really an option, way back before Intel open sourced it.
Awesome. Found my next project to test out. Thanks for the response.
Know if it will compile on esxi?
