I am using OVH because they are dirt cheap.
I ain't gonna pay for VIP support which I am not going to use.
Isn't it like +25% cost per server? You may as well pay less and go with a smaller company that provides better service anyway because they value you.
You know you're asking this in a place where people would choose no support to save $1/year, right ?
I have had an OVH VPS with them since 2016.
Never needed to rise a tech ticket. But had to create few billing tickets because they screwed up billing more than few times.
Based on their general sales tickets regarding their SIP / VoIP service it took them to answer 14 working days, I don’t think the VIP support is worth to have.
I think the issue is they are heavily understaffed or low morale. Considering their CEO seems to go on world travel tours with his guitars I don't think it's being realized how things are. I've had a ticket open for well over a week now because of ordering/backend issues.
I love the way OVH works... where else can you get a dedicated server up and running anytime...
I do however wish that they had better support when things go wrong, as they would really get some more clients.... I find a lot of their documentation a bit lacking...
Hetzner!
😆 I would if they were in the UK... we need a UK. Supplier....

They are French. They'd never go to UK.
We can be pretty accommodating too. Not instant but often very quick if needed urgently :-).
Yeah but i am hoping some hosts use them.

Its 705,60 €/yr. OVH pricing, network and hardware are difficult to build +the free IPs.
With the help of monitoring servers you can always get out of the situation. It is enough to drive the server into the intervention. On some OVH networks, there is IPMI free, on SYS, too, depends on the server's network.
The biggest problem as for me in OVH is not support, but payments. Especially when you pay +100-200 payments per day. When flies to the request: We check your payment manually or "document request". That's what the problem really is.
But reading the forums, I understand that a typical OVH client does not buy more than 10 servers or something.
There is no secret about OVH
If you want a cheap server, with great ddos protection, go ahead
But of you are looking into reliability, good support and reactivity, forget it. Their focus is on data center expansion, not customer support.
It cannot be worse then Amazon Support, at least they do not put in hard drives with bad sectors.
ovh is definitely not for the inexperienced admins. So you do not need VIP support. So we call it unmanaged servers. Mostly you should not ask support if you know to manage.
For me, VIP support sounds like either suggest what to do when the user does not have experience with operations, so instead of losing novice users, charge them and help their troubleshooting. This task is fuckin stressful for sure.
If that VIP is involved with their specialists, that's something advantage have that fixes hardware or routing issue so much faster without waiting. Which is also rarely happens.
And some branch has good support skill, some don't or some are lazy. Should not judge entire ovh.
