anyone figured out this hot/cold storage shenanigan ?
It's been explained several times.
2TB cold storage.
Unlimited Hot storage (files that are downloaded at least every 60 days).
i know that , i mean what is considered hot, is downoading just a few mbs (if so , how much) or the file needs to be downloaded entirely for it to be counted
Didn't try as I don't reach the limit. I've heard from some ppl that it is possible if file is downloaded a few mb only though (iirc).
an is it possible to know which files are cold ? so that we donwload them ! because i don't see filter by last downloaded date
No. 1Fichier is cheap and simple. It's anything but comfortable. You need to work a bit to make it awesome (e.g. create a script to dl all files every x days..).
Anyway, I am happy with it and so are many others
Is 1fichier offline? I cannot access it from any of my networks (4G Vodafone, ADSL TIM).

No. I do not wish to install modules in kernel. I happy with the backup speeds as they are. Besides, I am also downloading and sharing some "Linux ISO".
Hey, it's not fair that you get a much better speed than I do! 1fichier must be throttling the speed of my connection, I'm going to complain and threaten to say bad things about them on Trustpilot! Much less impressed now!
Have you tried using a VPN closer to 1Fichier ?
Try to share any of your files to a simple client/user/friend which does not have their account and just need to download a file by a link what you gave to him/her. I will be surprised if it will be more than 1mbit/s on free account.

I have premium. So for me, and only for me - download / upload speeds by using browser - fast.
If I wish to share a file to some of my friend or colleague - they forced or to buy it (pay 30 euro / annually) just to download my files, or struggle by feeling the pain of limited speed with 1 downloading per a hour of a file, and also pain with issues with download managers, because if you does not have a paid plan, everything will not work for you at all.
Honestly. I've never understood the love that so much of LET has for 1fichier .. even back when storage wasn't as cheap as it is now.
Dealing with their oddities and other pains was just too much for me, and I kept opting for a storage VM instead.
You can enable their CDN which will allow users to directly download the file even without the paid plan
I see your point. Fair enough. (Though you might consider using the "hotlink" aka CDN feature to whatever limited extent - 100 GB per month - as that should substantially ease the download experience for your friends and colleagues).
And no doubt about it, it does seem to be a horrifically cumbersome system to navigate - to the point of being somewhat painful even for a paid account.
I do see some (limited) opportunity to script away a few of the rough edges - also noting their (perpetually in beta?) api system.
Though I suppose the necessary effort and time spent hacking away at their kludgy system would negate the "extreme cheapness" aspect of the deal for anyone who values their time. (It's strictly recreational hackery for me, so no real problem there.)
Also would agree if the idea of reliable backups helps a person sleep at night, then probably a simpler system is better. Whatever I might come up with for backup of backup of backup of backup on 1fichier is probably going to be hella janky, and correspondingly brittle.
So, yeah ... definitely not for everyone - or even most sane, respectable people. (If there are very many of that persuasion here on LET, I dunno ...
)
Why not use that script from null (or was it someone else) in the other 1Fichier thread that let's everyone download 1Fichier files at premium speed? You can host it on your website/vps. Now your clients can dl at premium speed by navigating to myurl.net/?a=04gfddnltj where 04gfddnltj is the the equivalent of the 1Fichier share file link that comes after /? . The script logs in with your premium acc on the backend to dl the file.
