    Is SAS Storage SSD?
How come it is SSD-like performance?

    nVme caches(ZIL) + ZFS magic.

Just use the VPS normally and forget about the physical internals.
UltraVPS takes care of that for you.

I see on the panel it lists 10 IPv6 address you can set rdns on, is the 10 address the limit you can config on server or is it just the limit of ipv6 can sent rdns on,

If I recall well, their set-up is such that it makes at most 10 IPv6 addresses available for use.

it says de-dus2 for me too, but I guess that's just the whole location...

probably orders get spread across their nodes anyways and I have just been lucky to hit an (so far) empty one.

this morning it was only minutes but afaik they still check and provision orders manually, so could also take longer. if I remember correctly it never took longer than an hour or so for my orders but that also might heavily depend on day and time ;-)

During our office hours (6 - 23 CEST) VMs will usually be provisioned within 1 hour.

Razza said: is the 10 address the limit you can config

We assign a dedicated /64 IPv6 subnet per VM. The first 10 addresses of this subnet can be used.

  • Ordered SAS special 1 in Netherlands and it was provisioned within 5 minutes, the server is also good. Any hope you would offer with same spec in Los Angeles soon?

  • Please note that it's possible according their support upgrade the SAS-Special-1 for SAS-Special-2 plan in future.

The benchmark for server running on E5-2690 node are quite a bit slower than the VM on E5-2690 V2 nodes

  • I got the SAS-2 and so far it's everything I need, most notably RAM and no typing latency. I would say it's a steal for the price. I got it at -€1 from the site price, possibly early bird?, don't know, but it'll renew for the same price.

    Nice!

If I understand the question ...

generally speaking you'll want to be familiar with two commands to get started: fdisk and mkfs

beyond that will be more details pointless to enumerate unless one is already familiar with how to partition a disk and create a filesystem for linux.

Which software? It seems very unlikely that you exceptionally received 7 GB while everyone else received 10 GiB. (Hint: There's probably some swap space.)

has been mentioned above and has been always that way...

so, you really get the promised disk size (or even some more), as you have an additional space for the system. just mount the 200GB device to /home if you need the space there and be done.

if you don't know how to do that, don't get an unmanaged server at all ;-)

@moni099878 is that DUS or AMS location? seems like you are on another node as well with the slightly older CPU... to be clear again, I think I have been lucky with getting on fresh systems and don't expect the numbers to stay that high. I'll check later again and let you know...

People, these VPSes aren't necessarily suitable out of the box for everyone, so you need to know what you're doing. (Happily, you can request a refund within the first 14 days if you're not satisfied.)

The unusual feature for many people is the initial disk setup:

    /dev/vda1 / (10 GiB)
    /dev/vdb /mnt (100 GiB)

Notice that vdb is not partitioned, which is puzzling to some people. In addition, people aren't generally accustomed to using /mnt.

This initial setup works fine for a storage server: you can simply put the files on /mnt.

But this setup is less suitable if you want to have a more conventional layout, for example, with a big /home directory, so if this is the case, you need to adjust things. At this point, an installation from ISO probably makes the most sense, but you could also try to adjust the initial setup. Either way, you need to know what you're doing.

There was an earlier thread started by a novice user, which includes a number of opinions and ideas:

    https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/154244/need-help-to-make-a-default-filesystem

(The OP of that thread requested a refund in the end.)
