Can I legally backup my vps to google drive?
Hi,
I know technically it can be done, backing up files from linux to google drive account, in fact I have checked out a very nice API for it.
But the question is;
will google mind if it sees a bunch of system files,db sql,etc in my google drive account,
would it be a violation of aup/tos ? (tried reading the huge tos but got no where)
I have tried to google any known instances of google shutting down a person's account because of a similar scenario but so far I have not been very lucky.
I'm sure someone here must have tried it out. Care to share some info?

I think that should be a problem with Google since their service is not aimed for that.
No, but you can back it up to Google Cloud Storage.

One of the main advertised uses for Drive is backing up data. Why would they care if you're backing up videos or VPS files? Their content policies are simple and as long as you aren't hosting porn or anything illegal you can use your Drive space for whatever you want.
