    Exactly. Maybe some day we will do an EFS like offering, but for now it's purely block devices.

    Let's say transcoding.

    A single core will likely handle a few streams at least.

    I gotta confirm that, but I know the big plex server i've monitored handles a lot well.

    I have been testing Plex on Slice 2048 transcoding a single 720p stream. There were several moments the stream would be lost viewing over the web player, but that has cleared up the past couple days. I will probably have to upgrade to a dedicated core if I keep the service. You will likely suspend me for the CPU usage on the fair use core.

    It'll show up as a harddrive so you can format it and do whatever you want.

    If you want to use it to store videos/pictures/etc, that's your choice.

    Remember, you have to have a VPS with us to use it.

    As an update to people. I'll be doing final tests tonight for all the backend code and likely start the rolling reboots ( :( ) to fix the inifiniband issues this weekend. I'll then start rolling out beta's.

    Slabs are just virtual hard drives. You can attach it to anywhere who knows what a hard drive is.

    Any current NY (NJ?) test IP? Appears the LV test IP pings, but the NY (NJ?) one doesn't...

    Just my luck. I didn't get to participate because the node I am on needed a firmware upgrade.

    You're still getting in the beta :)

    Beta users will get until December 1st on the volume for free.

    Is it possible to order say 4 blocks and 4 VPSes and then ask for each block/VPS to be put on separate hardware?

    Perfect, I presume I just place all the orders and then ticket in to get it moved around (obv when everything is released)
