Very interested in the Buffalo location! I think I am going to try this out with FreeNAS!

The IP traces to Chicago, did you mean 198.12.127.131?
Ops, fixed.
You are more than welcome! FreeNAS is a solid system.
I have to say that out of all the new LE services out here, this is probably the most exciting and interesting one to me.
I can definitely see myself using this service in the near future to offload some of my off-site backup needs.
I have three questions.
Is it possible to get smaller plans? 30-50gb?
How strictly is your TOS for server abuse goes, I have never run any backup-only servers. So I really don't know what to expect in terms of resource usage, even though common sense says it shouldn't be much.
Not strictly related to backupsy, whats the best way to backup daily server snapshots? I have some servers with DO, while I am using their snapshot and backup services, I want to use a daily (or bi-weekly) automated offsite snapshot of my vps. Is there any easy way to do this?
Thanks for your answers.
We have a 100GB yearly plan for $40/month. https://backupsy.com/cart.php?a=add&pid=12
If you are not hammering the CPU and IO, you are fine.
How are you downloading the snapshots from DO? If they are doing a session authorized download link, you can download the snapshot from your Backupsy with curl. Let me know if you need help on this.
@serverian
Do you mean $40 per year?
No no I am not downloading the snapshot, DO doesn't allow it yet (but they say they have plans for it). I wanted to know if there is a way to make a snapshot of the current state of the server within the vps and upload it to a remote location, as a backup solution.
Yes, sorry, $40/year.
I think you can do that with R1soft.
New Incero (Dallas) node is coming tomorrow as well!
I tried to install FreeNAS, but the virtio drivers gave me trouble. I am using OpenMediaVault (which I had never heard of) which is really slick and seems stable so far! Using it mostly for an NFS datastore for a small VMware cluster. So far, so good! Speeds are excellent.
@revnja, sounds great. Glad you are happy with it.
Can I run gmvault on this backup server to backup my google email?
Sure @smile93
Had my VPS a few days now, got over 120GB backed up so far. I have nothing but praise for the service so far
