Exactly what are you looking for?
I use the gmail app and I am happy enough (it has it's bugs but works for me).
When I was using Android, I just used the regular Gmail app. It has external mail server support iirc.
I prefer K-9 Mail, it's open source.
I'm a big fan of Nine (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ninefolders.hd3) it's not free but offers HTML signatures which were nice, and actually, sync's with Exchange too.
I've used Outlook mostly.
Once you've configured K9 mail it's actually pretty nice. It has support for everything I could imagine. Just export settings once you've set it up and keep them at a safe place so you won't need to reconfigure it every now and then.
Download blackberry hub onto your phone. It will be the best thing since slice bread.

Using Bluemail https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.bluemail.mail&hl=en

AquaMail
try outlook app
I used K9Mail for years, but this past year changed to AquaMail. The main reason because K9Mail doesn't support the new versions of MS Exchange. AquaMail also offers more features, the ability to add more then 5 email accounts, and is no where near as buggy as K9Mail.
+1 for Aquamail
+1 BlueMail
AquaMail hands down
I'm using Email by Edison
K9
I guess that I may be among the (very?) few who kind of like the default mail app, but perhaps my expectations are set too low -- it's true that one can't set the background to dancing mermaids in the default mail app. :-)
In any case, since the default mail app is already there and I can't remove it, I decided to use it. :-D I use the Gmail app for Gmail accounts, but I use the default mail app for non-Gmail accounts.
Does anyone know how BlueMail makes money? Everything is free. Seems a bit fishy
I use Mymail. I used Typemail before, though it became a memory hog and was uninstalled. Bluemail looks interesting. Will try that out.
I use Bluemail as well.
Personally I do use AquaMail and I am actually quite happy with it right now – though a fully featured html signature solution would be always appreciated.
Not directly associated with the question how they are making money – but nevertheless an important information if you are currently using BlueMail (and also TypeApp since this Mail app seems to be connected to the same developer [1]).
The german security expert and blogger Mike Kuketz recently took quite an indepth look at BlueMail and recognized some heavily horrific details about how how the developer handles its user data.
Funnily according to their press release on businesswire [2] BlueMail is the highly secured MailApp where "Passwords are never transferred to the BlueMail’s servers" which is exactly what was proven wrong by Kuketz.
Though that was fixed in a recently released updated (at least on Android - v1.9.4.2 [3]) BlueMail did send login credentials like usernames as well as passwords to the BlueMail servers for an undetermined amount of time [4].
Meanwhile the log sent to the developers still seems to cover information like the used mailserver, your mobile service operator as well as the email addresses which gets extracted from the received email headers [5].
Also mentioned should be the fact that according to their Privacy Policy they also reserve themselves the right to store your emails on their servers – which of course could be more a feature of the app than an actual security issue [6].
Personally I do not have anything against data analysing per se – gmail does that for years and there are quite a lot of people who nevertheless enjoy their service – however I think it is always worth to consider another product if the developer claims to preach water but drinks wine instead (although that is a german idiom and I'm not sure that it works in the english language as well).
All in all just a information every user should know about to make its own decision – but one thing you probably should do wether or not you are staying with them: Change your email password if you used to use BlueMail before version 1.9.4.2.
