VPS wanted: 4GB+ RAM 4xCPU - Support for docker
Like the title, looking for something 4GB ram, with 4 CPU and with docker support (so either kvm or openvz with the right kernels). AlphaVPS looking like a hot contender with those specs for 5 euro a month, but just want to see what else is available. I'm currently on vapornode, but annoyingly having issues with their network, which is a shame as I quite like them, and Remi (their support guy) has been incredibly helpful with hunting down where the networking issues were, although unfortunately they keep coming back, and I can't really run a site on a box with non solid networking.
Storage I'm not too sure about, but ideally 50gb+. The only reason I havn't pulled the trigger on alpha is because they only offer 30gb. Did try their openvz offer just to test their system and was really impressed, but annoyingly didn't have the right kernel modules for docker, so couldnt play too much.

Out of Stock - But thank you for the suggestion though!
SSDNodes
Given that the OP is looking at 5EUR/mth range (AlphaVPS), SSDNodes would be out of his budget range (I guess). They had a good 4GB offering (and even a 8GB OVZ with Docker support for $65/yr), but don't see it on their site anymore.
@Hetzner_OL Cloud possibly?
However; I feel like both in terms of CPU and NVMe do not match. Nevertheless wanted you to be aware of their excellent offerings :-)
Oh wow that sounds exactly like what I would have wanted, although lol annoying they don't still have it. Saw wishosting yesterday after much googling, anyone have much experience with them?
@Warlax @RickBakkr - I've definitely seen people on social media and elswhere who have been using Docker on the Hetzner Cloud. We don't provide Docker support, but there are some guides/projects already around, for example, see: https://github.com/JonasProgrammer/docker-machine-driver-hetzner --Katie, Marketing
Docker is a userspace program (doesn't require loading of a customised kernel) so as long as you use KVM or XEN HVM as your underlying virtualization, you are good to go. I have never tried it but I think Docker will not work on OVZ.
Unfortunately, we're out of your budget as well, as you have a docker requirement. Our HighRAM VMs are based on OVZ6 with 2.6.32 kernel. You would need a KVM for this and our price would be 10EUR for the required specs.
Thanks for all these replies guys they've been incredibly helpful. So great to actually hear from all these amazing providers in the community and it's really insightful and has led me to lots of googling if all your companies!
Which location do you need this in?
Couldnt imagine docker would be operational on openvz. For the 5 bucks a month you are trying to save I could see $100 a month in openvz aggravation.
So long as the kernel module is there docker in openvz is no issue
As for location, I'm not too fussed so long as the port is high speed. I'm based in the UK, but it's hosting a website so just needs good general access

So during the course of my investigations I've bought a few of the cheaper servers as a little test to see if I would be interested in running production stuff on them. For anyone interested, here are some results:
WisHosting: Package: KVM HDD
High memory and fast disk speeds, but unless there is something I don't understand about their 'unlimited CPUs', their stress-ng score was a bit duff
VaporNode: Package: SSD KVM VPS
Fantastic servers, I honestly REALLY want to use them as a company, just really bad networking issues.
Wholesale internet: Package: $4 one
Great for the price, very consistent performance, but the memory is a bit lacking
Unfortunately I cancelled my AlphaVPS subscription before I compiled this, but they performed very well. Annoyingly I did choose to cancel at the end of the month rather than immediately, so that they still got money and they didn't think I was ripping them off, however they just disconnected it early (haven't checked to see if I've gotten a refund, but I imagine I have). They did perform pretty well though, I just don't have the stats to paste here.
Honourable mentions - I also ran some tests on scaleway, they performed very well, only potential issue being the 200Mb port, although I did find their paris location performed a lot better than amsterdam. I'll happily run the tests there too if people like as they do hourly billing. No idea if anyone is interested in these stats yet or not though :P
I been looking for the exact same thing as you tbh. And so far, I went for the 8gb/300gb ram/disk canada kvm, the E5-2670 share you get is good enough for me at like 9$?
Also, cyclone servers has a 4.5$ 4gb kvm (nat tho) on their specials, the only issue for me was the disk size, 25gb :O.
I don't really spike/max my resources but it's good to
know I can test stuff without much limits from time to time.
I'm also autistic when it comes to getting RAMPOWER at priced as LET specials :O
You mind linking me to that? Cyclone looks really good though, not seen them before, but I agree the disk space is a killer. Might try contacting sales to see if they could boost that.
And lol yeah I get really anal with stuff like this, as nothing worse than your production systems suddenly failing on you when your site is getting traffic.
Just because it's hourly, here are some bonus results:
Scaleway: Product: VC1M (Location Paris)
So overall they have great IO performance, decent specced machine for ~$7.40 - Only gotcha is the upload speed seems a bit limited.
Turns out I still have access to my Alpha box, so here are the stats:
AlphaVPS: Product: BlackFriday 1G (3.60 Euro a month (after tax))
Not sure if they gave me the wrong machine or something, but WOWSERS - basically 8 threads at blistering fast speeds, and crazy IO performance. Only problem is this machine is OpenVZ and turned out it didn't support docker. Am investigating their KVM offerings though after their really great results. I have spoken to support however and unfortunately they will not adjust hard drive specs, you just need to purchase a more expensive box Notable mention is this is the first box to just support IPv6 out the box.
Netcup do a 4 core, 4GB, 80GB SAS plan for EUR 3.99 per month if you pay yearly in advance.
Try CloudCone, you can customize everything yourself as per your requirements (upgrade/downgrade anytime by yourself).
PS: I'm not anyhow affiliated. I'm just using their service for last 5/6 months and very happy.
So this looks really good, although reluctant to commit to 12 months without testing, but have dropped them an email to ask if they'll let me do a day trial or something. Reviews for the company sound good though, never heard of them before so thanks for recommending!
Checked them out but unfortunately the price ramps as u customise it. Some of these other providers are so damn cheap its very hard to compete with!

Just realised I forgot to do Hetzner. Where they also have a pay hourly offer it made perfect sense to give them a go.
Hetzner: Product: Cloud server CX21
Really impressed with hetzner, I used to have a dedi with them a while back and that worked really well, no down time over the years I owned it for and really great performance. Was surprised by the upload on one of the speedtest's, but I'm willing to let it fly as a glitch in the system. CPU speed seems very good for just 2 cores, and I confirmed that installing docker did indeed work.
