Nginx Help
Hi,
I'm looking for some assistance with a test I'm trying to perform.
I want to use one of my VPS's running Nginx as a reverse proxy to a specific IP:Port that is hosted on a different server.
For example:
VPS domain - test1.net
Separate server domain/port
test2.com:8371
Is this possible with nginx?
Thanks!

yes
Mind telling me how....? :-)
location / { proxy_pass http://destination:8080;
Would that work if I was to use it via VLC for connecting to a movie file but wanted people to connect through the reverse proxy and not direct?
Just try it yourself your server wouldn't blown
Doesn't work. :-(

If you just have a static file hosted somewhere and you want to protect the source IP, it should be fairly straightforward. If your source is streaming from ffmpeg or some RTMP source, or you want HLS adaptive bitrate streaming, it gets more complicated, e.g. nginx-rtmp or Kaltura's nginx-vod module.
What's your exact config? Basic reverse proxy should work:
