Thanks for nothing
Hmmm... Can you read or not?
It says it'll be blocked by February 2018
Oh please, that was the most useless article I’ve ever read.
@netomx You’re be better off using OpenVPN over Shadowsocks.
I typically use my laptop to rebroadcast wifi over a Shadowsocks + OVPN for my iPhone and other devices.
Get yourself a ProjectFi simcard and you can browse any websites there seamlessly.
That will be very slow ?
Not available in Canada or Mexico
I typically get 30-50mbit on a 100mbit+ connection, depending on time of day. (note: the speed measured was taken quite a few years ago.)
are you from china ? 30 mbit is quite good speed if that is international bandwidth
Thanks pal. I will be ready with Softether, Shadowsocks and OpenVPN, but wsnted to be sure if I need anything else
Wait til you see which phones it's not available on
Shadowsocks itself, with decent encryption option, should be more than enough for daily use.
Also prepare VPN server with another port, such 80, 443, 53, 21, just in case
I have a few friends with Pixel phones (I can activate it with their phones).
@netomx On that note, enjoy the food selection that China has to offer! Have a safe trip
Shadowsocks still works well
but probably you will need ShadowsocksR,
port is not an issue, any port will work
openvpn is already dead,
blcocked by GFW years ago,
A comprar compresores ? @netomx
Tr u going to buy cooling compressors?
Recall you knew a bit about them on the delimi who episode
Not in China right now, but from friends I know that in Guangdong Shadowsocks (non-R) on port 443 using chacha20-ietf works on all three networks without any issues.
Shadowsocks can work, I am now using, I am a Chinese, I wish you a happy mood to come to China
T mobile provides unlimited 2g speeds on 4g network that addition vpn back to the states (that's how they throttle the speed). I believe it's only 128kbps or 256kbps but that should be enough for minor browsing and research. It's actually an amazing offer to give subscribers
I am a Chinese, shadowsocks is still working very well
It's fake news, guy. The Shadowsocks (ShadowsocksR sort of stuffs) works fine for now. The news that SS being blocked GuangDong is fake, but SS(SSR) is not safe for Chinese people.
VPN was taken down in many citys of China.
SS works fine you can use it.
Bad Seeing for the my 1st reply.diff thing I just said.Sorry.
Shadowsocks is still working
They didn't do it very well then. I was in China 2 weeks ago and OpenVPN worked flawlessly. In fact, all protocols worked, even basic PPTP. Tried also Shadowsocks and Softether (L2TP) (all on own server). All fine.
On the app front I tried Lantern (for android), OperaVPN and FreeBrowser (.org) - all worked.
Best is, have several methods, and setup your own server. Streisand looks nice: https://github.com/StreisandEffect
I monitor the Lantern user feedback, so far it always seems to work. You can get it from PlayStore, or D/L the APK here:
https://github.com/getlantern/lantern
I believe your traffic amount was small to get banned . They ban when they see suspicious activity for long time .
I am not sure how it works. I switch VPN on only when I need it. For Baidu Maps, Didi etc. you obviously don't need it. I strongly suggest you China going guys and gals setup several methods. Don't rely on one only.
One more thing, that everything worked 2 weeks ago doesn't mean everything must work now.
Softether don't work,Shadowsocks still alive. But need to choose the right vps as china block many foreign ips.
你好啊
If you have your own server it worked 2 weeks ago. No idea about the Tsukuba VPNGate, that is obviously more of a target.
