UK PC Buying
I'll be in London for a couple of days, Dad just asked me to help my aunt that's staying there to fix up a basic desktop since her laptop died. She's like 60 and not really good with PCs so would like to ask for recommendations with that in mind. I won't have much time to shop around since its a pretty short trip, hope to get some tips from the guys in UK for brands or place to buy DIY parts if branded isn't recommended.

scan.co.uk and they do assembly
For parts I normally use:
Though for the usage I would just recommend a low end PC with i3 or something a like. Possibly goto PCWorld or something and check them out?
You can check here for any special offers running:

Forgot to mention ideally something that can be delivered quickly or picked up since I need to configure it for her.
The Zoostrom PCs from Ebuyer are pretty cheap and quite reliable.
Gumtree, if you need something quick and already ready for you and someone local.

Novatech.co.uk
My aunt used to work here
cyberpowersystem.co.uk
DinoPC.com are pretty decent
+1 Novatech may be a little more pricey but great service etc. ;-)
Used to be OK, my last 2 visits there (live just around the corner) have been far from stellar. Permanently off my list now.
My only experience was back in 2008 as far as I remember, I'm curious at to what happened now..
Another vote for ebuyer
I'm a fan of morgancomputers.co.uk - cheap low end systems, usually guaranteed. Used to have shops but online only I think now (the shops were brilliant!).
+1 for Morgan - plenty of dell (and other) pcs/laptops, mostly 2nd user but more than adequate for an elderly relative. Stick a new drive in from anywhere else others have mentioned for peace of mind
I use either
1. aria.co.uk
2. overclockers.co.uk
3. ebuyer.com
ebuyer.com
play.com
Scan.co.uk are based up in Bolton (Roughly 3 1/2 hours drive from London, won't bother trying)
AMD is a better choice for low end PCs... possibly an APU?
Or, try the new Intel NUC.
I buy from either ebuyer.com or cclonline.com, both have a good line of budget pc's.
The stupid thing doesn't even have SATA ports...

Thanks all for the feedback. Just landed in London a couple of hours ago. Will likely pick up something from ebuyer. Price seems right and quite a number of mentions in the thread.
@Kenshin Yay, the Zoostorm Computers look really nice also.
The best ones
very pricey
