Anyone able to explain this hop?
I just ran a mtr to some servers and I noticed that there is this one sudden jump from a low ping to a high ping, but I can not quite see where it is. It seems to be after my provider, optus, but it could still be optus. Here is the part of the trace that I find confusing (It is the 203.208.174.85 IP where the problem is):

It's an underwater cable connecting the two.
From what it looks like, Australia => Los Angeles.
Exactly. Optus has a cable to LA.
Same thing with Internode. It's the Australia => US connection.
afaik it is the wireless router. Australia has a super powerful wireless router that connects to LA.
I have a couple of linksys wrt54gl. They are wonderful once you chuck DD-WRT on them. But unfortunately no IPv6 support yet. Not having IPv6 on them is not an issue though because the only thing on the client end of them is my home server.
