This VPS is available at $4.99/month (when paid annually) as against the usual $10/month price

30GB SSD/

I have a 4GB VPS from them (from a special they ran last year) and happy with their service so far. Tickets are answered promptly and if you reply to their CEO's email, he usually replies in under an hour. Good service!

I would argue that the 8GB / 40GB / 4TB transfer for $5.49 is a much better deal. 8GB for this little? And it can run Docker? Wow!
Why go with a subscription for a year for a trail/public preview? Doesn't make sense.
Also, if you want to try docker for cheap, just go with ovh and select distribution kernel:

Read the rules much?
I agree. The 5.49 offer is a better deal.
Yep. I am ready to stand corrected if I have broken the rules. I am not affiliated to SSDnodes. I don't think I have done anything different than other posts that talk about VPS offers they heard about via email.
Apologies, read too quickly thought you were the provider.
Is it OpenVZ?
No problem.
It is OpenVZ. Their email states that KVM is not fully deployed yet and they are doing beta tests. @SSDNodes, I hope I am not mis-stating something.
Scroll down to the graph comparing Virtuozzo 7 to OpenVZ. The hypervisor is KVM.
yearly. disappointing.
montreal = ovh?
Thanks for the heads up, but wonder how they're dealing with Kernel updates ? via kernelcare ? Hope they have updated for latest May 25, 2017 Kernel security updates as Kernelcare hasn't released CentOS 7 patches for them as yet https://community.centminmod.com/threads/may-27-2017-kernel-security-update-for-centos-7-centos-6.11801/
Trial / Preview offer with an annual commitment? Meh.
answered my own question, kernel host node updates are done via ReadyKernel kpatch http://docs.virtuozzo.com/virtuozzo_7_users_guide/keeping-your-system-up-to-date/updating-virtuozzo-kernel-with-readykernel.html
Wow, yeah, does seems unrealistic, doesn't it?
Last year the reviews were https://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/89402/review-ssd-nodes quite positive but that's indicative of the company not this offer.
I purchased an 8GB plan today. Running tests, will post my results back.
