I have a feeling that WHMCS will also release free version.
Was expecting a client limit like SPBAS, but the limits they have imposed are a bit sad. Nonetheless I'm sure well see a lot of new HB users.
Definitly will install it once to try
From http://hostbillfree.hostbillapp.com/index.php?/page/free-hostbill-limitations7Fd7/ :
Lost data/alienated customers due to security vulnerabilities in old versions, anyone?
"Cannot be updated" ? Can't you just install the new version and overwrite the old one?
You can't even used it to develop with:
I would imagine that the "export" and/or "import" functions (if there are any) have been crippled, to prevent this. Unless it's like WHMCS where it stores everything in database, making a reinstall a non-issue.
Surely the DB structure would change?
Any other free alternative?
I'm sure there are, but one is using such a thing to solicit money from another person, wouldn't you be receiving money? And therefore have money to pay for a license?
SPBAS, with a client limit
Free Hostbill + SolusVM Trial. Nice combo for learning things. 15 days is not long enough, though.
Here come weekend hosts.
Yeah...
@isaq,
You expect everybody to be a weekend host :P
I've got myself a free license, I'll begin testing things.. With a bit of luck I can make the other modules work with the "free" version..

@Ishaq
This is why we can never have nice things.
Love it.. Hopefully this is enough to trigger whmcs releasing a free version aswell.
That is fucking retarded.
@Jack I'm sure people don't want to pay that weekly! :P

That scares the shit out of me, look at what happened to WHMCS when a little exploit was discovered.
I think it at least supplies a good trial platform to test with... at least now people can make an informed decision before splashing out.
since when they raising up the price (again) ?
Ahh that was sneaky!
Bastards increased it yet again
And yet:
-It's five hundred dollars. It would take two and a half years to amortize the cost versus WHMCS monthly unbranded license. WHMCS owned license is already cheaper.
-There's still no monthly license.
-You have to pay for support on a per-incident basis at fifteen dollars per ticket. Even at this heinous price, "guaranteed response time" is eighteen hours. Thanks for the effort, guys.
At these prices, it better perform fellatio....
(edit) This comes from someone who is willing to pay $$$ for quality software. But not $$$ for unknown, untested, unvetted software.
lol!
yep they had two price hikes within about three days?
You can't update it in the future, that's a killer, honestly. All those other limitations...
I'm sure it's worth it for the people that just need to manage billing for a few web hosting clients though.
Q: Can I upgrade to full HostBill without loosing my Free HostBill data?
A: Yes its possible! After upgrade to paid HostBill you will gain access to future HostBill updates & auto-upgrade plugin!
So the pivot is:
-Free! security vulnerable version
OR
-Pay a wheelbarrow-full of money for bug fixes
