Be aware of OpticalSwoosh - he's a scammer!
We rented a server from a person named James Thomas, who also writes under the nick OpticalSwoosh in this forum.
Although we paid six months in advance, the server went offline after one month.
He never replied to our e-mails, nor did he answer our telephone calls.
He's got several e-mail addresses.
[email protected] is just one of it.
For his PayPal account he uses [email protected].
Unfortunately, we can't start a PayPal dispute, because we paid him in Bitcoins.
Be aware of him and don't pay him any money, he's a scammer!
We lost a lot of money by paying half a year in advance for a server hosted at Colocker Data Centre in Milton Keynes, which we can't use any more.
The data centre isn't giving any information to us regarding this subject.
@OpticalSwoosh: If you read this, please bring the server back online or pay a refund for the remaining 5 months!

Tomas Glass?
Yes, I think that's his name.
Do you know him?
He's banned, so it will be difficult for him to respond.
He is banned here so I don't think he can read what you say:

why would pay for such a service with bitcoin? it's unregulated and very unsafe.
Yep

@TarZZ92: You're right, but PayPal has higher fees compared with BTC.
@Layer: Thank you for the links.
I wish I would have known that before!
I can't understand only one thing.
Every person who worked with @AutoSnipe scammed people.
Example: @joodle , @TinyTunnel_Tom
Its so sad to know this !
Back in March this year , I got $1400 scammed by one of itschrisG brand
i don't even think he is 18 yet, I might still have his address somewhere, maybe I will print this and the other threads out and send it to his parents he does not live far from me iirc.
Appreciate the confirmation. It was heavily suspected, he denied it, I couldn't prove it.
true but a lot more protection (plus you can chargeback)
In this case, the BTC fee was 100% . . .
@AnthonySmith: How can a person under 18 place a server in a colocation centre?
Find company with rack space that doesn't check age? Ship server and tada? Lots of small colo doesn't require any formal contract mostly if it's just a few U.
I knew Swoosh was TinyThomas, just couldn't prove it....
well gg @nekki his identity has been finally revealed
on a side note: how on earth does someone not not know swoosh was tom
Colocker does indeed have some very young customers:
Not quite true; it was about 83.33%:
Well.... I saw that one coming
I didn't know this, but then again I'm not very good at getting social cues.
Even if one does, it's not terribly difficult to get around it. I've never been asked for an ID when hiring collocation space, but the. I never did bought it for myself, always for the company.
Most big DCs have contract clause that a person under 18 cannot work on the premises. The security should technically check it, but I'm sure they have much higher focus on the name and the picture than the date of birth, especially when someone is close to 18.
Add in a bunch of mental stuff and their impact on the current/future productivity + time wasted waiting/dealing with the problem + finding a replacement, that's over 100%.
Technically he paid 6x for 1 month of service, making the "BTC fee" 500%.
Why would you pay random company (?) advance for so many months via Bitcoin. You really need to avoid this in the future Anthony...
Why would you rent a server from someone who can't even set up a real email address..
Could be. It's been quite some time since we signed up so my memory of details can be flaky.
If you mean real as in an actual domain instead of outlook.com or gmail.com etc it's actually quite common for small businesses to do this I wouldn't immediately rule someone out for it even though the super low cost and relative ease it is to setup.
I know this is purely anecdotal and really adds nothing to the conversation, but I think I remember having beef with this guy when he first signed up under the name "OpticalSwoosh".
edit: @Ishaq had a sneaking suspicion
We thought we could trust in him.
Didn't know that he's a scammer.
