Incredibly cheap storage VPSes
Hi all,
Looking for some really cheap storage. I will get quite a few in the end, so the cheaper the better. Bandwidth usage will be to fill the storage space on the first month, and then the usage will be next to nothing on subsequent months (under 1GB a month) until the time ever comes that I need to restore.
Ideally I want the minimum size to be 1tb per VM, but happy to negotiate.
Thanks
Harry

Budget per TB? Location?
Any location, keen to avoid the US though, but I will use the USA if needs be. As cheap as possible per TB
It's obvious that Time4VPS is the cheapest option.
Thanks for all that mentions. You should consider our high volume storage servers options. However first thing you probably want to do is to check network quality between your location and our Data Center: http://lg.time4vps.eu/
Consolidate into time4vps instead of having 9x120gb ovz all over.
https://openvz.io/ has some great storage plans. I'm happy with mine.
Why not invest in a few dedis with no RAID SATA drives. That will be dirt cheap storage, that will get cheaper over time.
I really doubt whether it would be cheaper than our storage servers proposals
Yea. @Time4VPS, expect an order within the next half hour
Glad to hear @hawc!
I have been with @time4vps for a few days, but I have invoked their refund policy as the VPS was far too slow for me, with a maximum 300Kbps download speed, and large IOwait spikes.
Anyone want to send me an offer? Will be using the VPS(es) for the http://iabak.archiveteam.org project.
Thanks
Harry

I agree, there network is always a deal breaker.
Hm, where are you located at?
I usually get atleast 150-200Mbps down and usually more than 100Mbps up.
I used them for a bit - had no issues.
London, UK
Bucharest, RO
Romania shared 1gbps: 7.27MB/s
OVH France 100mbit: 5.24MB/s
First Colo Germany shared 1gbps: 7.69MB/s
To be fair, I was downloading from San Francisco, CA. But still, I should get more than 300Kbps. My friend in Brisbane can get a faster upload speed to the VPS.
Well, just had a check from OVH, too. I can also just achieve around 40-50Mbps right now.
I don't mind right now as I don't use that much between those two locations, but I guess I'll keep an eye on it!
Give ours a try -- a few extra $ -- but high IOP, and capable of 2Gbps+ -- $7 for 500GB.
https://mnx.io/pricing for more detail.
Nice point of view!
Even with the VAT, it is still more then 5 times the cost of Time4VPS.
But yeah, if you consider it absolute instead of relative it's just about 5$ more. :P
There is also an option with online.net dedibox sc which now has 1Tb hdd for 9 euro/month. Sure it cannot compete with time4vps prices, and it has no redundancy, if drive fails you loose data, but still it can be considered an option, depending on what you will use it for.
I use dedibox xc to store backups and few other things because it also has access to their SAN where you can buy 1Tb for 10 euros... again, not competitive with the cheapest storage VM-s, but very convinient and still cheap...
I would rather remove my eyes with a cocktail stick than use Online.
Could you both please provide trace route results from locations you are getting these speeds by submitting a ticket on our system or just write a PM here.
We provide 400 Mbps port speed for each VPS, however as you all probably now, final port speed depends on many factors, especially ISPs between, but 0.3 Mbps is really to slow and we want to find out what causes this for you.
Share please trace route results.
Just interesting to know.
i use serverhub, their iron big data, fast speed, perfect for backup
@hawc
We do have a STORAGE VPS for as low as $9.99/month for 1TB Disk Space

We can negotiate the pricing if you think its too high.
check out http://vpsflare.com
Definitely recommend Time4VPS.
Very generous and reliable for its price.
The network is quite shitty for me, manage only ~24mbps to Southeast Asia, but its largely because of distance and pairing issues.
