  • Just spoke with someone from support, they dont have any update regarding Sydney however he is aware they are a few weeks behind. Likely to be mid to late November for deployments however because they havent had a confirmed update they dont know

Is this server they offer in WAW any good for professional usage?

Not sure about what others think but in Australia's more 'service oriented' culture I think a lot of people will be pissed off that OVH didn't reach out to inform us of a probably 2+ week delay and will just hold on to our money.

Having lived in Europe and seen how different people are with regards to service attitudes it's not really surprising to see a French company behave this way but it isn't a good way for them to start here at all.

Then they shouldn't pre-order, request a refund and move on?

I am sure some will do that. I was making a comment about service cultures and showing respect to potential customers; that's all. I am waiting for a server as well so... :-)

    Why shouldn't people pre-order?

Generally not an issue if there is a delay IF the supplier is up front and communicate it well. Fact is OVH havent and now they have alot of people expecting to have servers online. Since we havent heard anything to the contrary, we would expect to see things start to happen and servers be deployed.

  • OliverOliver Member, Host Rep

Yeah it's just the communication that is missing. Some delay is not really a big deal; not that hard to send an email to all affected though saying 'there's a delay, sorry and we now expect to have services online at X date'.

  • Now I'm just looking forward to additional IPs' availability in WAW...

  • I've created a ticket asking when OVH will sell VPS'ses in Singapore, and I've got this mail back:

    ETA for DC in Singapore.
OVH is building new DC in Europe,USA and APAC.
First 5 will be UP in Sep-Nov 2016.
    Next 5 in Jan-Mar 2017.
DC in Singapore is already active.

    Not really helpful, but ok.

@XIAOSpider97 is the dedicated server in WAW a good offer? Is it production ready?

If you only need 1 IP-Address with no Anti-DDoS, then yes.

Be aware that its limited offer of 500 machines total according to Oles

Most of these are already delivered so I'll imagine they will run out soon. If youre gonna buy, you need to buy fast lol.

Currently, in my opinion the routing is horrible. Between 60-80ms from Finland. However this will get better as they connect with Level 3 Amsterdam in future http://i.imgur.com/OoznyTc.png

As said before in this thread, the Anti-DDoS Pro will become available within few weeks along with failover ip's. But as of now, warsaw DC routes via france PoP so it increases latency for me.

But yeah, overall if you just need 1 IP and can last without anti-DDoS and failover ip's for few weeks, it's really good offer in terms of hardware.

This is how the routing looks right now for me.. http://i.imgur.com/aBfRzhx.jpg

If u guys want a test IP, message me.

@stefeman thanks for the info. Do you know what the price will be for additional IP addresses once they will be available?

Same as any other OVH/SoYouStart server. 2,50/IP one time payment untill you fill out 16 IP slots. Any additional IP will cost 2,50/IP/Month. Enterprise servers have 254 IP slots, but these discover servers only come with 16.

You can buy 2 subnets of 8 individual IP's (total 16) or 4 subnets of 4 individual IP's (total 16) or just /32 single IP's. Be aware that you can only set RIPE info for subnet ip's, so if you buy individual IP's, your "RIPE Organization", which you set won't be shown in whois info for the IP's.

If you dont renew the server, you lose all attached IP's back to OVH unless you park them which costs 2,50/IP/Month

@stefeman thanks again... I have just ordered one!

  • Sydney update: Hi,

Thank you for contacting OVH! We apologize, we've had some delay. I just received confirmation that the servers will start being delivered in our Sydney data center on the 14th of this month.

    Kind regards,

  • it would be pretty awesome if they compensated everyone who had to wait with 1 free additional month of hosting on them like someone said above, however I don't know if they'd be willing to do that or not

From PH it goes to US >> FR >> SG O.o

I'm expecting routes form PH >> HK >> SG. Latency is horrible.
