Low Spec dedicated
Hi guys,
I'm looking for a dedicated server with the following specs:
- 1,5 - 2 TB RAID (SW/HW doesnt matter)
- at least 100Mbit/s
- around 20 TB Bandwith
The rest doesnt really matter.. No high end CPU, 4-6 GB RAM should be fine too. It's just for personal backup and some stuff that doesnt really need a lot of power.
Budget max 25 €. Better 20 €. Please dont suggest kimsufi (no raid).
Thanks, you are welcome to PM me
Best regards

RAID 0?
RAID 1
SYS? Might be slightly over unless you can grab BK-4T

SYS? I guess you mean Linux?
I was hoping to find a more "personal" hoster, which does not offer such outlet dedis.. just a low end machine. Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone
Seems like you dont really need a full blown dedi for your backups. Try the storage plans from @time4vps maybe?
Hi, we could offer a deal, but the bandwidth requirement... Why it's so high?
Online.net?
Hello, we can do with an Atom server: E2700, 4GB RAM, 2 x 2 TB, 100Mbps unlimited ~around 25 euro/mo
dupe
"Backups" = seedbox
It could be an iscsi target for a daily windows bare metal backup disk, aside from that, not sure why a backup server needs 6GB Ram, but that is none of my business.
the cheapest you will find will either be online.net, soyoustart or hetzner auction I imagine.
Edit: why not use this https://contabo.com/?show=configurator&vserver_id=180
50GB RAM Dedicated
10 CPU Cores
1.2TB of pure SSD and unmetered traffic.
€27.00 p/m
or 2TB of SSD cached for €20 p/m
Sure its not a dedi but why not eh, its going to be my go to link now when people want cheap backup space
yes, I do support this ;-)
that way we finally may get more feedback on how reliable their service may be or not.
SYS means SoYouStart, i.e. the link he just gave you.
Right, cuz "pure SSD" is exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you think "cheap backups" ._.
That's because you're not in on the joke.
raid+6GB RAM+20TB bandwidth doesn't sound like a backup server to me..
thanks for all your answers..
well i'm running a vps at the moment, which is actually good.. of the 20TB traffic i have there, i only used like 30 GB yet.. but you'll never know if it increaseses dramatically. but i'd like to have full control of the system, which means no access to others. the raid and 6GB and 20TB are probably more than enough for me.. i just want to run a few programs.. webserver, syncing, bnc and stuff... 30€ is definately too much. 25 is max
If i'm not mistaken you'd need +/- 682 times the traffic to fill your 20TB. That's a quite generous margin indeed.
More seriously, keep an eye on https://robot.your-server.de/order/market/sortcol/price/sorttype/down
what if i go down to 5TB Traffic?
That'd be about 170 times
