Sorry i never loved startssl
They're losing certificate reissuing fees... they had to compete :P
i downloaded their "StartEncrypt Lite" which is suppose to be automatic. Hard to tell, since there is no instructions/readme with the contents. Also, I don't see how "automatic" it is when it just extracts: bin conf log sh var
Anyone get the "automation" to work?
I've used them before and I prefer LE.
Only if the Pro is free, but it's never happening. HailLE
Page seems a little misleading. Seems like EV still needs money. Bleh.
Meanwhile, I'm loving Let's Encrypt.
All eyes lookin at free EV SSL cert lol
Don't reg with real data, it's a trap.
Try googling "startssl privacy"
It's also technically not free, they state they are charging you for the validation still.
How much is it?
Gotta love the part "that only cost US$199.90"
that cheap for 2 years EV SSL and unlimited wildcard OV SSL for 3 years.
Nothing cheaper than that
Free is cheaper.
Looks like their app is proprietary with no source code available? Wow, they found a way to take the Lets Encrypt concept and make it worse.
Got a mail saying its better than letsencrypt . I just remembered that had tried them sometime in past.
No, thanks.
Explains stuff. If you want to not have pain, but bleed silently, use StartEncrypt!
I think they should go with GoEncrypt instead of StartEncrypt.
startencrypt doesn't seem to be fully automatic as the domain validation still needs to be done first in their web area AFAIK from their FAQ/HELP info
The English is so....fishy, isn't it?
They're an Israeli company as much as I know. There's that.
PurchasedHosted by Qihoo, a Chinese company that proved to keep helping the government monitoring their netizens, while actively contributing to the censorship in China. It is so clear that those English on the webpage is written by some ESL users: considering the relationship between StartCOM, WoSign and Qihoo, I think we can boldly assume that Startcom is being run by the same people in WoSign or Qihoo. And that's not making the internet any safer by any mean, to say the least.
EDIT: not purchased
@cnbeining any source they purchased?
Open sourced, maybe yes maybe no
Got reply from StartEncrypt
Ah sorry, just PKI being hosted on Qihoo.
Still fishy ENOUGH.
A post today about this new service:

Thanks for sharing.
Not enough Picard face palms for StartCom after reading that article. Truly unbelievable.
Well, at least they already fixed these issues according to this article.
