From microsoft .. www.domains.live.com . Not all services that google offers , still an alternative
Is there anything else?
What?
yes ! it is not free anymore. And 50 USD for 1 user seems too pricey.

Appearently you can still get single user ones.
1 is enough for me Yey!
@Mee
Well, single user is not very useful... for most of the companies IMO.
dont want to go microsoft way.. But no other options?
Will google provide me 10 free users in exchange for a LEB ? :P
Really no such thing as free lunch...even the existing "free" gmail accounts are ad-powered. It just took them awhile to implement this, but a lot of people may have seen this coming.
Aww
Run your own mail system.
Easy and faster way using script: http://www.palegray.net/projects/automate/pdm/
Do you enjoy living life to the extreme?
Not really. In fact, my primary email is on a hosted service. I dont run it myself.
I was just suggesting another possible solution on top of those that already been recommended
Zoho: http://zoho.com
Free plan:
Comes with:
You also get access (albeit limited) to all their CRM software.
EDIT:
Use this link to ease sign-up: https://www.zoho.com/mail/zohomail-pricing.html
OR for a personal account (can add domain later): https://accounts.zoho.com/register
is there some kind of script that would install a mail setup for me on debian? like the ones for lnmp and stuff?
Self hosted email has 2 problems - Not good interface as gmail and downtimes
well g apps getting suckier anyway. For example, there is a limit of sending 99 emails/day if you use their smtp feature. I believe this was alot more if you signed up last year.If you use smtp with g apps for whmcs, well that explains why some of your user isn't getting some of those mails.

But how do u get 100% uptime !!!! Isolating VPS and email.
I don't host my email; I was just answering @skirtTight's question.
Zoho sucks badly
Here is a guide on how to set up your own mail server:
http://www.howtoforge.com/setting-up-a-spam-proof-home-email-server-the-somewhat-alternate-way-debian-squeeze
You can skip a few steps on easyDNS and so on if you have a static IP, the process does not look that difficult (it seems!)
zoho
yandex
live
I have been using all the above.
yandex
live
I have been using all the above.
Do you have English link to register Yandex Mail for domains?
2 VPS, one main and one fail-over ?!
yes, and also so slow I've using them for few month, then move to self hosted mail server
@tommy, what do u use for mail interface?
Can the old google apps accounts be changed over to a new domain etc? Can anyone give up one?
roundcube.net for sure
New roundcube is nice. I've had less downtime of my own servers than I've experienced on gmail. I know we like to forget, but gmail will have random issues for random sets of people at least once every couple months. Server side unavailable messages, timeouts for up to 15 minutes, etc. It's not a big deal but it happens. They're on the same internet we are. For the size of their customer base, it's not a judgement, just...I can do better for myself.
