Can I do better than Vultr with $20 per month?
Hello,
I currently have servers at Scaleway and Vultr.
I won't bore you with talking about Scaleway, as they are not very good.
Vultr has a great service and great servers but I keep thinking I am sure I can get better spec better for my money.
Research:
- loveservers.com - New company, looks a bit too good to be true.
- online.net - Same CPUs as Scaleway so probably not great.
- VPSDime - Don't know much but looks good!
- RamNode - Only reliable service that beat Vultr on Benchbear
- SSDVirt - Another one to beat Vultr on Benchbear not on poll -> comment
- Vultr - Already got the $15 easy upgrade.
I am looking to spend around £15/$20 per month. And would like the server to be upgradable and reliable.
Please ask questions.

Out of all of those, RamNode is probably your best bet.
Definitely Ramnode if you want awesome uptime and snappy nodes.
@marioco
RamNode is great, but you won't be saving money (unless OpenVZ is okay). If Vultr is working well for you then I'd stay with them since they are already dirt cheap.
Ramnode for uptime
Online.net for value of money
Kimsufi, online.net etc. Much better in spec wise. Worse on support though. And how could Ramnode beat vultr? Because the owner is continuing on prompting on this website?
Obviously Vultr has it's own advantages, such as the ability to add ISO, pay per hour of usage, set up startup scripts / SSH keys, etc. But it sounds like OP doesn't need any of that.
Let's join the fun of dedi..
Lol $20 for vps
There is plenty of provider here that can give you high performance VPS at an affordable cost.
If you want to stay with your list, definitely Ramnode.
If you like Vultr then stick with them. Of that list I'd give my money to Ramnode
vpsdime is good they are from the same owner of winity and I have only good experience with them
Not all boxes have to be lowend, I've bought (and still have) boxes that would probably get me my LET account deleted.
Ramnode for the uptime.
Ramnode & VPSDime for uptime.
Ramnode have good performance!
Both Ramnode and Vultr are excellent in performance, uptime.
But, if you can manage a server, $20 gets you a dacentec dedi!
They all seem to be $30 +
@maxmitch sent you a pm
which one? ARM or x86?
another option is dediserve, stable
online few minutes network downtime
Can't go wrong with either staying with VULTR or going with Ramnode.
I'm also really enjoying my PhotonVPS 1GB KVM that is $11 and comes with free DDoS protection, great performance although the port is only 100Mbps.
I have many Leaseweb KVM VPSes (in US and in NL) and they have been really reliable for me, $18/month gets you 4 cores, 4GB ram, 80GB Disk, and 8TB of bandwidth.
You could also pick up a dedicated server from Wholesale for $10, Dacentec has $20 dedicated servers (just keep watch of their stock).
I'm willing to match/beat any deal whether its OVZ or KVM
