Storage/disk space requirement for linux kvm vps.
Hey guys,
I have a small blog that I plan to move to a SSD powered vps. It is a small blog, not huge storage needed may be a gig or 2 and am looking for a kvm vps.
What I am trying to figure out is how much disk space do I require? Do you think a regular Ubuntu install with VNC/GUI for some common file sharing (cloud computing), do you think 7-8GB storage would be sufficient? 3 GB for file storage and 4 GB for os?

Well.. how much disk space are you using.. ?
Install what you plan to use, see how much diskspace you're at and add a bit of a buffer. Only you know if you need 8gb or 2 gb. I'm running a website on EDIS's 1gb KVM without issue, but there's no remote desktop component. NX + LXDE is only a couple hundred megs.
I am trying to figure out if 4GB is enough for os itself with all the goodies like VNC,Gui client, python etc.
Why?
I would guess 4GB is barely enough.
@gubbyte some remote computing task on the fly such as presentation preparation and things.
@Nick_a what would you suggest? My main storage need is barely 2-3GB at most.
Should I get a xen box instead or the storage for os would be same?
Yes I think you'll be fine.
I may know of an SSD KVM VPS provider who offers cheap 256MB VPSs with 5GB space... who might also have a 35% promo running... maybe
Who? I cant find any in the offers section

@concerto49 I'm just joking ramnode
2GB. I'm rdping a CVPS and with openoffice and that, it is good.
Then again, if 5GB is not enough, we have a 10GB Pure SSD offer (512MB RAM) here http://www.lowendtalk.com/discussion/5715/eunl-fusioned-kvm-512mb-ram-10gb-ssd-1gbps-ipv6-only-4.25month
