Ecatel LTD --> Quasi Networks LTD (IBC)

Did anyone notice Ecatel is rebranding to Quasi Networks Ltd.?

http://bgp.he.net/AS29073

Also one of their IP Prefixes:
inetnum: 89.248.167.0 - 89.248.167.255
netname: SC-QUASI32
descr: QUASI
country: SC

It now also says Country: SC (Seychelles) instead of NL (Netherlands) in their IPs WHOIS.

Whats going on? Anyone has information?

Quasi Networks. Sounds like a company contracted to build tunnels beneath cities.

Unless you are a law enforcement or a tax authority in a country that has a special treaty with the Seychelles (and not even always then), it's practically impossible to penetrate a Seychelles IBC (International Business Company). These are highly secretive companies with zero public information about them.

While there can be legitimate uses for such companies, given that we are talking about Ecatel here, they have probably decided that they want to get their names away from public records.

Another possibility is that they are going to add tax evasion to their rap sheet, but that's not necessarily the case.

  • Those immoral dickheads.

Thanks for the heads up. Will remember that when blocking their ranges.

  • Ecatel and (sorry) ColoCrossing are always the first ranges I block on a new server.

To be honest, if I'm hosting a site behind like cloudflare, I just unblock cloudflares network range, and my static IP at home, therefore only CF and my home machines can directly access box.

    It's a win win.

That's so nice of them to make a separate note for that.

I should release my spam payback script one of these days, it takes any incoming mail on even disposable emails, and redirects it to a random email that also sends out spam, having scammers using spam scam each other.

  • Actually I like this part: "We do not judge, we leave judgement to qualified people to do so."

I am not approving spam or any other illegal stuff, but this is in my opinion a great providers attitude when it comes to CONTENT. I am not talking about ip spoofing, spam, hacking and such. That's clearly nothing a provider should accept from their network.

  • I've had several IP addresses from their ranges breaking my fail2ban dovecot rule hundreds of times in the last few weeks. I did an IP blacklist check and it seems most of their IP's are blacklisted for spam amongst other evils. They have an abuse email [email protected] but I'm not going to bother with that after finding that a good number of the IP's are blacklisted. I'm off now to block their ranges in IPTables :)

I dont think that they really check that email, for some reason they're allowing and hosting all of these things to a lot of people without restriction.
