vnstat and http://www.sqweek.com/sqweek/index.php?p=1
Loving Vnstat .... but is there tools to monitor traffic on a virtual interface ? (eth0:0)
with bwm-ng you can see the current bandwidth being used
and you could use munin for the graphical stats
nikc you can just add the venet
Munin and vnstat is a good combo. Use it on my vps. Maybe http://hostedmunin.com if you don't want to setup a munin server.
I'm using vnstat + phpsvnstat.
Install vnstat and configure to monitor the interface ,
Just edit the config.php to monitor the eth0 / venet0 / tun0.
+1 vnstat
Yup, love vnstat, but everything I read says it cant monitor a virtual interface ....
vnstat --iflist
Available interfaces: lo tunl0 sit0 dummy0 eth0 tun0 ip6tnl0
No eth0:0
Same for munin it seems, only sees the physical adapter not the virtual.
@nikc - As far as I know it will be picked by physical adapter counter, in your case eth0
bmon?
Nikc: identify high bandwidth connections with iptstate: http://www.phildev.net/iptstate/screenshot.shtml
You can kill connections too by highlighting them and pressing x.
EDIT: usage tips http://www.tummy.com/journals/entries/jafo_20091209_035743
iftop to get a detailed view of realtime usage, and vnstat for tracking over periods of time.
