DataShack for private use. Is it good or bad? Please post your view

I'm going to buy another dedi box for my private use (Not for the company that I'm working)
What is your view on Datashack ? Is it good. I'll be using a low end dedi for a game that I'm developing. Is there any DDos protection that I can use with Datashack ?
Thanking you.

They're alright, but you'd have to get DDoS mitigation through another company as they don't offer it. You can try BuyVM and see if their filtering is enough for your needs. You should be able to get a GRE running between BM>DS but I have no idea what the latency would be as I've not tried it between those two providers.
So, it isn't too bad either location for it. But, i've used Datashack for around a year now, Support is fairly fast, just they have some stupid policies..
There's also Dacentec (North Carolina) and Delimiter (Atlanta) with good deals. Ramnode has DDoS protected IPs as well, ATL is <10ms to Dacentec, and <1ms to Delimiter.
BuyVM NJ is ~27ms to Dacentec, and 18ms to Delimiter - so that's an option as well.
Buy VPS Classic in OVH for $2.99, setup GRE tunnel to your Datashack Dedi.
I had one there for more than a year, no complaints - fast ticket response and generally helpful.
I had the Datashack Phenom server for awhile and loved it, support always responded in 2-10 minutes and I had no downtime.
I'd take Dacentec over Datashack, and their prices are similar now, too. Better on those OPterons
Dacentec and Delimiter are much nicer.
Best bet would be get a Dacentec/Delimiter server and get a GRE from Atlanta to them (from RamNode).
nothing wrong with datashack, for business or personal use.
vouch for Dacentec.
Have used datashack a lot in the past no problems.
In the last 9 months I got two outage, one because of power lost during bad weather and another was router problem. The support always answer the tickets tho'
I would stay away from them at all costs, they are part of WholeSale Internet. I had to issue a PP dispute to WholeSale after they had to take my server down thrice for something that could be handled in one. They also replaced a failing disk with a failed disk...
Saw your thread on that.
Not a big deal in my case. But will have to consider twice if purchasing for a commercial use then.
I've consider on going with Delimiter or Datacentec. Both got very low priced servers for me. As this is a private project, I've no intention on paying more.
@sdglhm go with Dacentec, you wont be disappointed.
I've no experience with Dacentec. But I've load tested Delimiter and result were awesome. We've already considered on moving our servers to Delimiter. But still having few problems with our collocated servers. Also IP change would be an issue.
