I can't hold my tongue when it comes to Quick Packet

I picked one of these up: http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/quickpacket-49month-dual-xeon-l5420-16gb-ram-1tb-hard-drive-in-atlanta/
I could not be happier with the service and the support is excellent! They are rivalling my box with ServerMaina.
Great company to do business with, and performance of the network is perfect!
If you're considering a new dedi, they are definitely worth the money!

Yeah I've also got overall a great experience, specifically real good service in uptime and performance, no single issue in over a year ;D

I just have to ask, how does a current 1270v2 (what SM currently offers, well used to before the 1240v2 offer kicked in) compare to a L5420? I mean don't get me wrong, I am not saying anything about QPS as a company but that line made me go... what?
Its like saying I got a VW for 200, but for 400 I can get a Ferrari... but nah!
I meant in terms of customer service and support. I didn't say anything about hardware.
Thanks guys! Appreciate your business.

I guess u had some addons
@goexodus no addons. That's the 1TB drive stock.
Only things I added were IPs and a Gbit port.
@qps continues to impress.
Hope everyone with the recent LEB offer from them is satisfied.
Definitely a long term watch for me. (I am a tad picky about small operations in the dedicated/colo offering). Tend to deal only with companies with bigger operations and big staff.

The L5420 gets destroyed, revived and destroyed again on per core performance, it's not really worth discussing.
Still a fairly amazing offer, though.

All I know is that for a single person they are beasts.

Reason I hate qps is they charge reinstall fee after couple reinstall .
but they have good service fast response and fast setup

@casper253 Why should they reinstall servers for free, it costs more in admin time than the server is worth.
They should look into getting KVMs for every server.

@Jacob so you gonna charge $35 reinstall os fee to your client and every time you reinstall their os you charge them $35. They told me just delete the files and I did and it stop working.they
Charge me $30 per hour to find what wrong with the server or pay $35 reload the os.

@casper253 If you can't manage a Linux server without reinstalling the OS every 5 minutes, get a VPS. Or create a VM.
Or pay extra for a managed service instead of buying from an unmanaged provider and complaining when you break it.
@casper253 I thought ipmi was included, reinstall yourself?
We offer free OS reloads within reason. You were abusing that service, so we had to start charging.
You kept unpacking the SolusVM OS templates to / and overwriting your OS install, causing the OS to have problems. We gave you instructions multiple times on how to properly download the OS templates, but you continued to either not understand or ignore our instructions.
Our servers are unmanaged. That means you must be comfortable managing the server yourself, or hire a management provider to do it for you. We make this absolutely clear.

Wow. This is seriously a hilarious post.
I'd say for you look into a dedicated server with IPMI with Media. Then you can install the OS yourself. Seems like you don't really know what you were doing and demanded an OS reload a ton of times. OS reloads aren't as easy as you do it with VPSes and actually take time.

Just to clear things up - the fees here are misquoted. Our labor rate is $75 per hour, our OS reload charge is $35. We don't charge the OS reload fee unless you've already had quite a few in a short period of time. If your server includes a KVMoIP, you are welcome to complete the OS reload yourself. Alternatively, for servers that don't include KVMoIP, you are welcome to borrow a Spider KVM to complete the OS reload for no charge.

Quick question @qps, does the dedicated KVMoIP include media? I haven't logged into my IPMI/KVMoIP yet and I'm actually quite curious.
Damn, dear lord not a VPS company.
Cablestreet - London based ISP - Managed Solutions, Carrier Services, Colocation, Dedicated Servers, VMs, and more..
Yes, all of the ones we have include virtual media. You can either redirect a local drive (such as a CD-ROM or flash drive) or mount an ISO. I think the Dell ones allow for up to three mounted at once, the SuperMicro two at once, and the Spider KVM allows for one at a time.

yes you told me last minute when my server down and i cant do nothing about it

Not to sound harsh, but since you weren't capable of loading a SolusVM template on to your server, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have been capable of doing your own OS reload.
QuickPacket - Charlotte, Los Angeles, Chicago, Manchester UK
We told you before we did the last OS reload, but you continued to not follow instructions and unpacked the SolusVM OS template over your operating system again.
Bottom line - you ordered an unmanaged server but weren't capable of managing it yourself.

How long do you want @qps to put up with you? If you were my client you'd have been gone a long time before.. I have no doubt @qps is in the right, after all it is an unmanaged service and you couldn't manage it.
Cablestreet - London based ISP - Managed Solutions, Carrier Services, Colocation, Dedicated Servers, VMs, and more..
Well. I believe this is pretty much a open and close case.
@casper253, look into a KVM VPS before you go full-out for a dedicated server. OS Reinstall takes more time and money on a dedicated server than on a KVM. Once you feel comfortable with a KVM and working with a KVM VPS then think about moving on to a dedicated server.
Or, just go to Kimsufi/OVH and buy yourself a dedicated server there because they have automated OS reinstalls.
@Infinity it my first time using a dedicated server and i want to see how it like being a vps provider.that how people learn from their mistake.
he ban me because i dont know how to use dedicated server

@HalfEatenPie can KVM vps can run a other vps server.
some provider they dont let you install solusvm on their vps server
Cheap Reseller Provider mrcasperhosting.net and Free p2h VPS at nationserver.info
@casper253: Yes, but it's probably ill-advised. I personally do not believe you should really be looking into the VPS world without first getting more experience with management of a server
dude before you break the balls of any professional you can smash your head on the wall using VMware workstation and mess up whatever u want at your own expense.
@HalfEatenPie that why im a reseller
@jack who the hell is dominic or shane
Cheap Reseller Provider mrcasperhosting.net and Free p2h VPS at nationserver.info
Then why pay a SolusVM license?
Anyways, again look into a KVM VPS with maybe an extra IP or two and mess around with different virtualizations on it.
lol
@HalfEatenPie i was using 15 Day Free Trial
Cheap Reseller Provider mrcasperhosting.net and Free p2h VPS at nationserver.info
Well alright then.
Once you're comfortable with the KVM VPS then move on to a dedicated server management. Jumping straight into a dedicated server and then demanding multiple OS reinstalls all for free (one or two is fine but annoying) is kinda like demanding they repackage your sandwich several times while you're unpacking the sandwich right in front of their eyes.
That's a horrible analogy.
@casper253 I'd get a managed service if I wasn't able to handle things myself, I've did that with semi managed VPS when I first run a VPS, it saved my time and helped me get through things at that stage and get my stuff online. Then I've learned myself and I wasn't in a hurry. That, or as advised by HalfEatenPie you can have a VPS like KVM instead to test on.

@qps, should ask what folks are using the server for prior to ordering.
VPS as an option and highly scrutinize/reject orders based on that unless they go through waiver with the fees and info for their needs. (KVM, hands on, upgrades, etc.).
Barrier @ $49 is nil for summer hosts, holiday hosts, etc. His network will then be a magnet for dumb clown sellers who can't tie their shoes let alone operate a hosting company.
