Looking to solve my central US problem with a new node
So I have an app running production off Ramnode, and they are great with the coasts. However I currently have a node running in NYC, ATL, SEA and LAX. Great speeds. While a private network would be awesome, I can deal. Im using 1GB vz for each. I have great finite control on a state by state basis of my record routes with Amazons Route53, which is insanely awesome DNS. Enough story, here is my issue.
Chicago, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma. My latency on these routes is pretty bad. Wisconsin is up with them also. I currently have tried routing these states traffic to ATL and SEA, but both seem to be slower then my east-west-south traffic.
Should I get a Dallas, Chicago, Kansas City vps in the mix here? I would also love if it had some different peering so I can alias failover via latency to that node (yea, you can do that with route53) Who would you suggest for a provider?

Dallas is a pretty good mix for both most of the country and central US. Wouldn't be a bad idea.
Im thinking a Vultr in the center then. Time to coupon hunt.
I'm in Minnesota and most of my packets seem to flow through a node in Chicago. Same is probably true for most states in the upper midwest. That's where I'd put my next US server. I haven't shopped around for a different provider, but I'd probably go with one of the usual suspects that have RamNode-level reputations around here. Unless RamNode decides to expand to Chicago by the time I need my next server, of course. :-)
@impossiblystupid I have spun up a vultr in chitown and am migrating some scripts over. its ping to the rest of the nodes is not great, but its really running as an edge. Im guessing Choopa and whoever ramnode uses dont peer often?
if dallas then HostUS,Evoburst,@davidgestiondbi
there is also a dedi suggestion but the you can't expect great uptime but other wise i recommend WSI(whole sale internet)
