  • Wow.
It is even cheaper than my VPN using right now.
I should take one and let it idle.

It's a rather speedy KVM, and certainly isn't bad for the price:

    `# sysbench --num-threads=1 --test=cpu --cpu-max-prime=50000 run
sysbench 0.4.12: multi-threaded system evaluation benchmark

Running the test with following options:
    Number of threads: 1

    Doing CPU performance benchmark

    Threads started!
    Done.

Maximum prime number checked in CPU test: 50000

    Test execution summary:
    total time: 102.3141s
    total number of events: 10000
total time taken by event execution: 102.3125
    per-request statistics:
    min: 8.91ms
    avg: 10.23ms
    max: 25.05ms
    approx. 95 percentile: 11.79ms

    Threads fairness:
    events (avg/stddev): 10000.0000/0.00
    execution time (avg/stddev): 102.3125/0.00`

    Of course, our standard benchmark:

    # wget x86.ca/bench.sh -O - -o /dev/null|bash CPU model : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v4 @ 2.10GHz Number of cores : 1 CPU frequency : 2099.998 MHz Total amount of ram : 492 MB Total amount of swap : 0 MB System uptime : 9 min, Download speed from CacheFly: 28.2MB/s Download speed from OVH, Beauharnois, Canada: 15.4MB/s Download speed from Atlantic.NET, Toronto, Canada: 11.6MB/s Download speed from ColoCrossing, Chicago, USA: Download speed from Choopa, Piscataway, USA: 17.6MB/s Download speed from Dacentec, Lenoir, USA: 9.19MB/s Download speed from Atlanta (10Gbps pipe), USA: 16.1MB/s Download speed from Wholesale internet, Kansas City, USA: 14.2MB/s Download speed from Volume Drive, Wilkes Barre, USA: 15.2MB/s Download speed from Atlantic.NET, Orlando, USA: 12.7MB/s Download speed from Incero, Dallas, USA: 9.82MB/s Download speed from Incero, Seatle, USA: 12.4MB/s Download speed from Atlantic.NET, San Francisco, USA: 4.72MB/s Download speed from QuadraNET, LA, USA: 7.03MB/s Download speed from OVH, Roubaix, FR: 81.4MB/s Download speed from Redstation, London, UK: 80.0MB/s Download speed from Linode, Frankfurt, DE: 17.3MB/s Download speed from Leaseweb, Haarlem: 101MB/s Download speed from Linode, Tokyo, JP: 6.53MB/s Disk throughput - 1 time : 223 MB/s Disk throughput - 2 time : 212 MB/s Disk throughput - 3 time : 224 MB/s Average Disk throughput : 219.667 MB/s

The only problems that I see (beyond this price being unsustainable)- IPv6 doesn't work- at all. I did a sysctl to disable it so I could upgrade Debian and run network tests. Otherwise, this is pretty damn nice for the price.

We have some problems with IPv6 at the moment, will keep this topic updated about this.

No because people like to abuse it.

http://mirror.dataone.nl/centos/6.8/isos/x86_64/CentOS-6.8-x86_64-bin-DVD1.iso (3.6GB) link from our DC.

Can also offer u a test vps for 1 hour. please PM me for it.

  • Did not expect the peering to be that bad to Germany. (200-300kb/s)

Still a nice KVM machine for the price. Guess Ill use it for websites or something rather than VPN.

There definitely seems to be something wrong between me and the DC (not to this traceroute, but my server itself). I also have some packet loss. (which I dont see from my servers to the ContraWeb DC, so its not the DC itself)

Ill wait 1-2 days and then open a ticket if its still a problem maybe to find out if its fixable.

  • I get terrific download speeds for this (close to 100MB/s to Online and Hetzner, around 20MB/s to Ramnode Seattle), but wonder if the VPS can do the same thing.
