Proxmox control panel - Why not? or Why yes
Hi,
I had read good reviews of Proxmox and provider suggested also so the provider installed Proxmox.
But here mainly i see SolusVM or HyperVM is offered.
SolusVM is not free so it should be way ahead if features etc. are compared.
But why i don't see Proxmox used by LEB Providers here?
(heard its quite popular in Germany)
I know previously they didn't have User control panel but now its there (since version 2.0 i suppose)
Any other features missing when compared to HyperVM?
Thanks for your inputs

Proxmox IMO isn't ready for the end user, its great for corps and companies and private use, but not for customers, even with 2.0, just not there yet if you ask me.
No ebtables support built in and thus no protection for IP/Arp stealing etc, also no IP pool management. No support for software RAID either.
Its really not supposed to be used for commercial purposes.
hmmm... so i was misguided
so i shud better get hands dirty with hyperVM, leave Proxmox for now...
Well HyperVM will install on a 32bit CPU.. so if you only have 32bit then at least it's a choice but I prefer proxmox cause it just seems simpler not so cluttered as HyperVM
well CPU is 64bit, Proxmox is already running.. but i'm not sure i can continue playing with it... cuz in future if i have to create VPS for clients and HyperVM is better in this game then better start playing with HyperVM now...
Do yourself a favor and get solus. I know paying more to toy around doesn't seem worth it, but it is.
yup..
definitely! but later, after i get the grip (though my itchy hand corrupts my mind & gets me the toys without thinking business :P )
yeah, for now saving $ is IN for sure..
debate was between Proxmox & HyperVM (both free)
I tested Proxmox before 2.0 and wasnt impressed, didnt have the time to test 2.0 yet, but hypervm does the job well and is easy for ppl new to this.

I liked Proxmox 1.9 but once 2.0 came out I tried upgrading (painful and unreliable) and disliked 2.0, it was exactly what 1.9 wasn't but I liked 1.9 for what it was. I dropped Proxmox for our internal services and now I just run CentOS + OpenVZ via CLI until a decent solution comes along.
I think HyperVM would be better suited if you were going to have clients.. I can think of a few host that use HyperVM like Bluevm, Ramnhost.. can't say I've ever had a Proxmox LEB or even seen it offered.
