Where can I grab a used E3 box? (hardware)
Trying to find some gear to colo, looking for an older E3 box (1220/1230 v1 is fine) located in the US.
At a minimum I'm looking for a 1U box, IPMI, hot swap chassis (3-4 x 3.5"), 16GB+ ram.
Some drives would be nice, but I can buy my own. Don't really have a set budget, but if it checked all of the above boxes, maybe $450-500 - with some drives, maybe $600-ish. Not sure if this is a reasonable request or not, so let me know if I'm way off on pricing.
I've been checking eBay, but a lot of people require shipping to verified paypal address which would add $100-150 to the price shipping to me and then to the DC. A bunch of the used server shops are selling much older gear which is like 2U/3A. Need to keep this setup pretty lean.
If you have any gear that somewhat matches these specs, feel free to PM.

ReliableSite RTO? It comes with colo as well.

Dacentec does RTO on E3's:

@PetaByet Interesting, will check them out. Was hoping to colo elsewhere though, already have that lined up just need the hardware.
@catalystium Am familiar with them. Pricing is good, but I've got a colo deal lined up elsewhere
We sell E3's on lease, not RTO.
But the thing is; in the long term it's cheaper to lease then to buy your own.
Just remember, if you colo and there is a hardware failure, you've got to buy a drive, (if a HDD failure), ship it to the DC pay for remote hands, etc..
But if you lease -- You have free hard ware replacements, no messing around.

eBay.
yes eBay.
Just have a look at Ebay!
Is there a parrot in here? Seems that way
Ebay... about six months ago I got an HP DL120G7 with E3-1230v1 and 4GB of RAM for $175, recently added 2-8GB ($80 each) DIMMS for a total of 20GB RAM, bought an HP SmartArray P400 RAID card for $7. The P400 is dated equipment with some pretty serious limitations but it does what I need it to and, it was $7.
So I take it I should keep checking eBay... Thanks guys.
@talsit Nice. The main problem I seem to be having is the specifics. Will keep looking though, not in a huge rush to find one. Will see what comes up.
If anyone has any gear of their own that kinda/sorta fits the bill, just let me know.
I would not recommend Dacentec. They are extremely unhelpful once you're ready to ship your server away from them. Their billing department is clueless, saying I can't pay my bill with my debit card which works on everything else including my utility bills and everybody else.
You're better off getting some servers from eBay and save your money versus deal with them.
@doughmanes I've had a good experience with them so far, but yeah, I'm looking to colo elsewhere for this box so it's looking like ebay is the best choice.
@mikeyur you can try them http://www.deepdiscountservers.com/ they provide server via ebay and directly too.
I have only seen servers older than E3 series but probably you can email and inquire about E3's.
@The_creator Nice, thanks! I'll check them out.
http://www.apaqdigital.com/ does servers too

@ub3rstar Thanks. Yeah it's on my list, seen some E3 hardware go quickly on there in the past. Just setup an IFTTT script to alert me on new postings in that forum.
@doughmanes My buddy recommended them as well, I ended up going for new gear with a different vendor.
