Well GoDaddy supporting it then instantly withdrawing their support when they released what kind of effect it would have on them is...not cool. If you're going to support something, stand by it at least.
Doesn't GoDaddy have promotions like every other day... I don't know I moved all my domains away from them when Namecheap was offering a discount to move away from them for supporting SOPA and they finally stopped sending me emails. Seemed like they sent me one or more emails a day about something.
Yes, and they all go to my spam folder . I guess google figured out I don't like GoDaddy.
Some SOPA supporters were there for a just cause, there are ppl with brands they have to protect, for example I understand why Adidas supports it. It is not fair to spend billions in advertising and sponsoring so some thief to benefit from it while destroying my brand using bad materials and sweat workshops with kids for 1 dollar per week or outright cheating them to work for nothing under severe beating and malnurisment.
They probably dont understand the internet and how will that impact on it, but GoDaddy should have known as well as many others. It doesnt mean that buying from some big brands is bad in general, just be informed on what they stand for from their actions, not declarations.
The fact someone is big doesnt mean they are evil, just that there is a high potential for that, either now or in the future.
However, supporting the little ones is always a good thing as the market always needs more competition.
M
Is it like you're going to stop watching films just because the MPAA stands by it?
I am against SOPA, so why would I stand by someone who supports it?
We will soon realize that the internet isn't as "free" as we all once thought it would always be.
SOPA is just one of many that will slowly trickle in.
I don't support hunting elephants for entertainment.
@PeZzy Oh yeah I forgot about that too, Namecheap had a discount for that also.
Every time you buy a domain from GoDaddy, an elephant dies.
Every time you buy a domain from GoDaddy you waste your time going through 5+ different pages that try to sell you things that you don't need. And then when you have to renew the domain - the same thing. It's very frustrating, at least for me.
This is the main reason i personally avoid godaddy when possible.
I don't get it. If you think GoDaddy is evil (and, therefore, don't think we should use them) why post this coupon?
everyone says so, I just tried to make some fun on the post. Isn't that obvious, with that words: evilness, HQ ?
Ah, it was a joke. OK. But really you probably just sent the lurkers to GD and gave them business
I just don't satanize GD. I know they supported SOPA, and then retreat. I think they had their lesson.
So please fellow members, before you click that buy now button and sell your soul to GoDaddy, think about the elephants.
I hunt deers and warthogs, is that bad?
@netomx Deer hunting here is illegal I think.
In the UK, yes illegal, just like fox hunting.
I'm from Mexico ;D
And elephant hunter there is legal. So really it's a wash. And honestly if you actually read the story on why they killed the elephant in the first place, it would make sense. I'm a human over animal kinda guy. I will not swerve for a cat in the road either.
No, you need to survive.
Depends on the TLD and the version of the RAA the registrar signed, but it's usually $0.18 or $0.25
