Recommended website monitoring scripts
As per the title, I'm looking for recommendations for a website monitoring script that I can run from a remote machine. I need to be able to:
- monitor multiple individual URLS on multiple domains
- monitor both via ping and keywords in code/on page
- be able to modify the monitoring frequency per URL, with intervals of no less than 10 minutes
- be able to trigger email alerts to multiple addresses when a page is shown as down
- run on Debian/RHEL
A couple of caveats:
- I can't use a hosted solution - this must be something I can install and run internally
- I can't install anything on the servers being monitored
I've had a look at a few scripts, but trialling them all I can't really separate one from the other, so I'm looking for some recommendations in terms of reliablity/scalability etc. Cheers in advance for any opinions offered.

Thanks for sending that link @alex, but those are full on server monitoring scripts, I'm really just after something simpler that just monitors websites.
Erm..But..So..can you at least run cron?
You've taken those quotes out of context.
I can do whatever is needed on the remote machine that is handling monitoring. I cannot do anything to the machines that are being monitored.
I understand Now..But in that case statements like the above lend themselves to being misconstrued. Good luck!
I disagree, as I'd already explained in the initial paragraph that a remote machine was doing the monitoring. Only if you didn't read that could the caveats be misconstrued IMO.

that script default to ping, but it's quite easy to monitor webpages for keywords with a check like this:
