For WHAT usage? It depends.
Exactly.
Desktop? Mac OSX. But even then it depends.
Server? Way more info needed.
Always Linux. The only problems are limited games support and too often something doesn't work on desktop. (wifi adapter, freezing/crashes, bugs..)
Desktop / laptop? Linux
Server? Linux or BSD
MacOS X seems nice, never had an opportunity to try it though and the fact that it's not free software make me don't really do anything to really try it...
Linux for Desktop and Server use, Debian sid with 4.2.0-1 kernel works very well on my Laptop and great battery life.
Still have a Windows desktop for gaming!
Desktop: Mac OS X
Server: Linux
Gaming: Windows (obviously)
I heard the op likes spoofed servers.
For webservers, I have always gone Linux?
I just use GNU/Linux everywhere. I do have Windows on multiple boot on some of my computers too, but I can't recall the last time I've used it...
Windows for gaming and some exotic hardware with broken Linux drivers (my wifi adapter works like shit under Linux unfortunately), Linux for everything else.
I use Windows 10 Pro on my workstation/gaming desktop and love it (I don't really care if Microsoft views my midget porn collection)...for everything else I use Debian.
For the end client, yes, Windows 10 Pro ROCKS! For servers, Debian or CentOS.
You can't run many graphics software or games on Linux for the end user, that's the biggest limiting factor.
Yes - I would rather use linux, windows, or mac based systems. Getting really fed up of VAX VMS and CP/M.
I prefer Mac for personal/work use. I prefer Linux for servers. I reluctantly use Windows when I have to or when I want to play a game that won't work on Mac.
Linux for work and servers, OS X for personal usage, and work on occasion.
I haven't used a Windows machine in years.
What is this windows you speak of? 100% Linux in this house (except the male child's iPod)
FreeBSD for desktop always. Linux, whatever. Mac, huh? Windows, never. (ever)
Windows for goyming and *nix for all else.
Linux/BSD server, OSX desktop, Android mobile. Windows for gaming.
@GM2015 I use spoofed servers for my computers. I just spoof the physical box. bandwidth provided by CC/HVH+shell companies that follow suit
Nice responses except for ToggledNs, going offtopic
Linux, I'm indebted to it, though I'd always choose what's best for the job. It just so happens I've used Linux a lot so there's time saved from past experiences.
Occasionally I'd play a game on Windows, until I got a BSOD and can't be bothered to reinstall it. Haven't played a PC game for 6 months ... I'd have been 4 the last time that happened, pre commodore 16.
Mac's... I'm not hipster enough.
Windows/Ubuntu as desktop. Debian/Ubuntu for servers.
I like Mac OS X, but can't afford a macbook. Hackintosh didn't work well for my system, so I'm stuck with Windows.
@hello, How long do I have to wait before getting your offers ?
?, very confused
I don't sell on this site, would like to respect the owners
Windows 10 for dev pc / laptop
Debian 9 for websites
My laptops + servers = Linux
Windows on virtualbox/vmware use it as needed,
Mobile = Android / Linux - rooted
Work/Gaming = WIndows
Server = Linux mostly but sometimes windows.
