DELIMITER - One time X5150 to L5420 Upgrade

Just got this from Delimiter VPS ----
Friday we received the final batch of 50 x L5420 servers from our parent company.
For those of you who have resisted the temptation so far, this is your last chance to get this massive server upgrade for $100 one-time.
Here's how it works: its a one-time charge of $100 and no increase in your monthly charge. We pull the disk from your old server and move it to the new system. There is no requirement to reinstall your software.
Here's what you get:
Double Cores: 8 cores rather than the 4 cores you have today
Better Passmark Benchmark: Dual L5420 = Passmark 6602, Dual X5150 = Passmark 3493
Comments
I'm still OK with the 5150, no need to upgrade this time.
@darknessends - when did you receive that? It was a good deal but I thought it was finished by now.
If take that deal over the life of 12 months - its $8.33/month for the upgrade to Dual L5420.
FYI I know that a few customers ordered X5150, used that upgrade to move to L5420 then rented out L5420 for $30-40/month. It makes a nice profit after a few months.
@MarkTurner - 22 minutes ago.
@darknessends - I just checked my spam folder and I got one too. Looks like he got some more units on Friday.
@MarkTurner So, it will be "Dual L5420, 16GB, 500GB disk" for $300 first year, right?
That's not good, right?
These CPUs are like $20 a piece at bulk from Chinese DCs not sure why it's $100/upgrade.
swap server, not fit different CPU
Its called making a profit.. and its dual CPU's, they're not actually swapping CPU's, they're transfering the drive to a new server but going with your calculations i don't think a $60 one time mark up is unreasonable..
If you take the X5150 for $200/year then add the upgrade $100 - then thats exactly right. It works out at $25/month
Its by design They send me too much mail
Their stuff goes to spam for me on Gmail not by design -- I had to make a filter to keep it out.
@Dylan - Does Gmail give any reason for it? Can you PM me the details if you have them
If I can get 1T HDD free upgrade, I will order one
I am sure you can, if you can send them a free $5/month
Any high storage (I don't need powerful CPUs) offers?
It's a shame that 2x2tb hdd more than triple the price of the server >:(
@XIAOSpider97:
8TB Raw + RAID controller
$99/month

As above but with 12TB RAW 4 x 3TB - $129/month

@4n0nx - Coupon brings that down substantially which server were you looking at?
@MarkTurner the one in your signature. $620 with yearly payment with 2x2TB iirc ($200 with just 1x500GB). What coupon?
@4n0nx - it should be $15/month to go from 500GB to 2TB
yewah i grabbed one when they emailed it the first time. Happy with it
Would be awesome if a similar upgrade to ssd was available
@lossehelin - there are ways to do this. PM me and I'll explain
Do they allow rDNS or should I ask how to setup a mail server with rDNS on a dedicated server? I do not see any option in the control panel.
@rahoolm My guess is you need to ticket
@MarkTurner

I guess so. Anyone, done that already?
Yes open a ticket.
Delimiter rejected recent X5150 order
Ordered 16gb ram server from delimiter
price was especially nice once coupon applied.
I've been keeping an eye on huge dedicated ram for our starving db baby to migrate from vps a long time ago
But surprisingly for me Delimiters assistant BR Anne
rejected an order with DoNotReply email explaining the following:
"a risk review of your account it has been determined that we are unable to offer you this service at this time."
"Please do not place additional orders as each will be rejected."
Lesson learned
I was paying not enough for what I was asking for.
Than is not my kind of business.
@vlad - if Anne rejected your order there was something in the information you provided that she didn't like.
